Hey am a cowboys fan, I live in Texas and I really hate anyone who is a boys fan and isn’t from or lives in Texas(Oklahoma, New Mexico don’t have teams) so that brings me to my question What is you’re opinion on post 2001 patriot fans?
One of my favorite parts of this blog has been getting to know Patriots fans around the world. There’s no question that success has opened the door to a whole bunch of new people cheering on the Pats.
Of course, local Patriots fans are among the most passionate and knowledgeable in the NFL. They’ve sat on the aluminum benches of Sullivan Stadium and seen some grim times.
Now, with the infusion of fans from the 00’s till now, are there bandwagoners hanging around who don’t really know what they’re talking about? Oh yeah.
But there’s also a lot of people who live many miles from New England and care very passionately about the team.
So ultimately I just think it’s fun having a lot of people aboard, even the ones who think bringing Randy Moss back is going to solve anything.
Talib is certainly beginning to prove himself as a premier shutdown corner, but so far this season the pats secondary has been having serious problems against #2 receivers. What do you think about the defense’s ability to cover another superhero tight end in Graham while also dealing with the likes of Colston on the outside?
Someone’s been reading Football Outsiders, eh?
Honestly, just fake game planning for the Saints offense in my head gives me the shakes. Part of me wonders if you throw all the matchups out the window and just focus on playing good D regardless of who goes where. Of course the scary thing there is when suddenly Jimmy Graham is on Arrington or Dennard. At least both of them are physical despite having a size disadvantage.
The thing I wonder is will the Saints be tempted to attack the Pats’ weakness at defensive tackle with their running game at the expense (somewhat) of their passing attack?

Pats 9th in pass protection, 24th in pass rush. No question, they’re going to have to be better than that on Sunday or else they gonna get shredded.
What is your guess in how New England will scheme to stop Jimmy Graham? Will they assign Talib to him? And I am hoping to see more of Jamie Collins with all the speed the Saints have.
Collins was missing from practice today, so that bears monitoring. There’s just no easy solution to Graham, I think it will be by committee, with the only real objective being to avoid having Arrington or Dennard on him, they’re at a severe size disadvantage.
If he’s in tight to the formation I like having Hightower or Ninkovich designated as the jam guys. That’s the biggest thing, not letting him off the line. If he’s split out with I think you have to put Talib on him given your other options.
Is Jamie Collins ready to be the cover guy on him? I have my doubts, he’s been worked in slowly so far, and this would be a huge test for him.
I think this is a game where the lack of a great dime linebacker, like we had hopes of Adrian Wilson being, hurts. Gregory doesn’t quite have the size and Tavon Wilson hasn’t played a snap of defense yet this season.
So I think the main guys dealing with him are Hightower/Ninkovich at the line, Mayo in coverage and maybe some Collins, with a little Talib and Gregory sprinkled in.
