It was a challenge I made to myself, because I saw the way we play here,” Vereen said earlier this week in one of the tunnels at Gillette Stadium. “I had never been a part of a team that is so physically tough—and mentally tough. Good read from Bedard, though Vereen’s numbers the last three games have been paltry and he’s dealing with a groin injury now as well. I’m sure the two are a bit related, but the Pats will really need Vereen to return to form in the playoffs, he’s one of the few playmakers they have left.

More on this coming tomorrow in my B/R column…

I can’t tell you what the body’s going to tell me when I take the field,” he said. “Maybe the body is going to say, ‘You know what, Vince, it is enough.’ If it do that, I’m going to have to listen to my body. If it’s up to me, I’m playing. I can’t leave the game like this. I can’t.

Despite getting rid of the ball in and average of 2.39 seconds per pass attempt during the regular season, Brady was sacked 40 times, one shy of his career high set in his first year as a starter in 2001. Last season, Brady took an average of 2.42 seconds per attempt and was sacked 27 times.

if wilfork goes, do they try to replace him with a similar rookie DT? if said rookie is taken, and who else would value a run stuffing dt in this pass happy league, does it change what they try to do on defense? essentially, the defense has been wilfork centric, do you see it continue to be so?

Wrote about this last week in depth, check it out here. Maybe you pick up a big fat nose tackle later in the draft, but I don’t see the value it taking someone like Louis Nix III in the first round just because he has similar dimension to Wilfork. Wilfork was a one-of-a-kind player, not […]
