I was too busy applying my palm to my face the entire game so could you please tell me based on what you saw what you think they were trying to do without dobson and thompkins?

This was just the first of the Patriots mistakes and it really played into the Chiefs gameplan I think. KC stacked the box and showed zero respect for the Patriots having either a “deep threat” or the ability of the Pats offensive line to give Brady any kind of time to hit anyone deep.

The All-22 will give a better look at it, but the Pats need Rob Gronkowski very badly right now and he just isn’t the same player yet. As I said this offseason, Gronk is in a tough spot. Year 1 after an ACL tear is notoriously difficult. Gronk just can’t threaten the seam of a defense or block like he once did… yet.

They need Dobson almost as much and I have no idea what’s going on. Whether he’s stinking in practice or they just like LaFell better, but it’s the same old problem and teams will continue to load the box and short zones until the Patriots prove they can throw the ball farther than seven yards.

I think our team is going to play better than we did tonight. We’ve got to get back to work at it.

This is not the brand of Patriots football we’ve grown accustomed to seeing in Belichick’s 15 years as coach.

Cameron Fleming now in the mix for Pats’ O-line shakeup | Boston Herald

Cameron Fleming now in the mix for Pats’ O-line shakeup | Boston Herald

Reports this morning are that the line will be Solder-Connolly-Stork-Fleming-Vollmer with Cannon likely returning to the swing tackle, 6 OL/TE role that he’s been pretty good in the last couple seasons when not filling in for Vollmer.

Hard to look at last week’s tape and not think some kind of change had to happen. Fleming to RG is the biggest surprise of the moves, but clearly the Pats want size in the middle or they would’ve given Kline a try.

Hopefully things look better, especially in the run game tonight. That’s where they need Connolly to be leading the way. He should be the most mobile guy on the line, look for him to be pulling a fair share.

And while a lot of people are concerned about starting two rookies in a loud environment like Arrowhead, I don’t think it’s a big deal. They know it will be loud, have prepared for it and will likely go with a silent snap count to make it easy on everyone. The problem would be if they weren’t prepared for noise ala the Broncos in the Super Bowl.

If Stork has no blown snaps I’ll consider it a positive night. If he mauls a couple dudes and brings some attitude that has been missing, even better.

Well I’m obviously posting a link to this long piece about the history of the Stork. I know everyone is pulling for him to start tonight, and as much as I’d like it, I don’t think it’s a lock. But in time he should be the starter…
