One theory floated at the NFL combine is that the Patriots’ AFC East rivals will be aggressive in targeting the safety spot aggressively this offseason. The reason: Rob Gronkowski. The league hasn’t seen that type of tight end matchup issue in some time, which puts more of a premium on finding a unique safety with the ability to hang with him.

Hard work and dedication, I always put my job first before anything, no matter what it is. I’m always just dedicating myself. Unfortunately, it just happened like that. I mean, it is what it is,” Gronkowski said. “I have a lot of fun with my family. It was the first time I got to see them in a while. We were just having fun with my brothers and stuff, friends I hadn’t seen in a while. The chance to hang out with LMFAO, that was pretty cool, too. Unfortunately we didn’t win and that was the number one goal. That’s all we did, was work, for the two weeks from the Baltimore game to the Giants game, just to keep on grinding. I was in the training room 24/7 getting healthy. Same with everybody else. Unfortunately we just came up short.

I think the Patriots are a difference-making organization,” Snead said, noting that the Patriots own more regular-season victories than any team over the past four seasons. “What you will find with them is they are going to believe that teams win championships, individuals don’t. Everything they do, whether it’s the type of plate that is in the cafeteria to the type of scouting grading scale you have, they want to have a competitive edge in that area. That is what you learn. There is a lot of innovative thought that goes into the logistics and processes of putting it all together.
