This week’s practices in Tampa should really be beneficial to the Pats for multiple reasons:

I think all young tackles struggle on plays and protections in this league, OK?” he said. “Just do a little thinking. Who did Matt Light replace? Bruce Armstrong. Did anybody think that it was going to be (smooth)? OK. Did you think he had any problems with it to start with? Well hell yeah they all had problems. It is what it is. "Personally, I’m pleased with the way those kids are developing – I’m really pleased with the way they’re developing. Is it the finished product? No and we have a couple weeks to get it to as good as it can be, and then we’re going to play, we’re going to play a game. He started for us at right tackle last year, Nate did, Marcus played some. It is what it is. So whoever goes out there, we’re going to put our best players out on the field and we expected nothing but their best.

“The coaches are tired,” Belichick said. “The players are tired, but we’re going to have a short week during the season. We’ve got a Sunday-Thursday game (week) during the season. That’s what training camp is for. It’s to suck it up. It’s to be mentally tough in whatever situations you have. You’re tired. You’re sore. You didn’t get enough sleep. You travel. Whatever it is, you block that out and you focus on what you can control, which is your performance and your effort. You go out there, and you work through it, as a team and individually. That’s the way it’s going to be during the season. “There’s going to be plenty of weeks during the season that somebody is going to be tired. Somebody is going to be sore. Some position is going to be a little short on numbers or whatever it is, and you build your toughness and your resiliency and those type of things through training camp. And it serves you well during the season. Then you look back during the season and say, ‘You know what? Maybe this isn’t really that bad. We went through a lot tougher stretch than this in camp.’ (You have) the confidence you can do it. I’m not really worried about that. These guys came to camp in good condition. We’ve had a good camp. They’ve worked hard. We’re going to put a challenge in front of them, and I expect them to meet it.”

Good news, especially as we come into the home stretch.

Vollmer stepped right in with the 1s, not surprisingly. But guess who’s not out there… Pat Chung. Ugh…
