No one better to sum this all up than Jerry Thornton. Just total hilarity all around, and pretty much the moment I saw Demps wanted to do both I figured his days in a Pats uniform were done. Now I’m just waiting for the “Patriots release Jeff Demps” news. But in the meantime this sure is entertaining…

Classic Belichick. I honestly can’t decide which part of this story I find funniest. Is it Demps, thinking he can dictate the terms of his employment to Bill frigging Belichick? Is it his agent, leaving all these messages and honestly thinking he’s going to hear back? Or is it Belichick, not giving either one of them the time of day? I think I’m going to go with Number 3. Because as hilarious as Belichick can be, he’s at his funniest when he’s being Passive-Aggressive Bill

Demps’ signing bonus brings the Patriots closer to the $76,585 maximum that teams could spend on signing bonuses for undrafted free agents in 2012. (New England currently is at $76,500.) In addition to the signing bonus, the Patriots have fully `guaranteed $200,000 of the $390,000 base salary Demps would earn if he makes the 53-man roster. If Demps does not make the team, he’d still get that money. The total of $211,000 in guaranteed money is the second-largest sum given to a 2012 undrafted free agent, exceeded only by the $214,000 the Dallas Cowboys guaranteed offensive lineman Ronald Leary.

Some Jeff Demps Florida highlights while we await the official word whether or not he has signed with the Patriots.

As we wrote yesterday it was surprising not to see the Pats address the lackluster kickoff return game from 2011 in the off-season. While there are already quite a few unproven running backs on the roster there’s always room for an explosive one as far as I’m concerned.
