It’s not too often that the NFL’s No. 1 offense faces its No. 1 defense. In fact, this meeting between the Patriots and Seahawks is the first time such a matchup has occurred in Week 6 or later in the season since New England’s own No. 1 offense beat up on the Steelers No. 1 defense 34-13 on Dec. 9, 2007 at Gillette Stadium.
So the 29 plays, a third of the plays, the best player for the Denver Broncos is on the sideline and New England ran 29 plays for 171 yards – 5.9 yards per play. That’s what the no-huddle does.
FANS ARE SURE TO BE TAKEN WITH THIS SUNDAY’S PATS/SEAHAWKS GAME
Do people expect the Seattle to give us a game? I thinking blow out, pats always seem to give rookie qb’s the welcome to the league game, wht u think?
Well given how the Arizona game went this year I’m not quite ready to say it will be a blowout. If Seattle can be disruptive with their front four and Russell Wilson doesn’t turn the ball over it will be a close game. But I think the Patriots will be able to move the ball, and if they can finish with touchdowns I’m not sure the Seattle offense will be able to keep pace. It’s the NFL, anything can happen, but I like the Pats by a minimum of 10 barring Seattle playing the perfect game and getting all the bounces.
Are we ever going to see Bequette on the field? I’ve heard that BB has pretty much redshirted him this year… Maybe he’ll be a down the road replacement for Ninkovich? I really liked the Bequette pick and just hoped for more at this point. Certainly can’t complain about Jones and Nink at this point though.
Yeah you have to factor in Trevor Scott too who has seen about 15 snaps per game the last three weeks, spelling Jones and Ninkovich. I don’t think it’s out of the question that we see Bequette get some time over Scott, especially if he continues to be lackluster. But for the most part I think this is a red shirt year for him, though I did find his selection a clear departure from what we’ve seen from the Pats in recent drafts.
I’ve been wondering for years why they wouldn’t invest some high picks in guys who could get after the QB, instead of defensive backs. Bequette is clearly the new breed of defensive end that the Pats want, so he should definitely fit into the plans down the road.
what kind of a back is vereen? is he an everydown one like ridley or a woodhead type one?
The hype about him coming out was his speed and catching ability. We haven’t really seen either of those to this point, but I’d put him more in the Woodhead category, though he seems a little more robust. Woodhead is great in space but once guys get an arm on him he’s going down pretty quick.
It seems clear the Pats want to give him a chance to show what he can do, and seem to be taking steps to build his confidence up. But unless Woodhead gets hurt, or Vereen dramatically begins to flash, I don’t think we’ll see too much of him.
