Breaking Down Biggest Differences Between 2011 and 2012 New England Patriots | Bleacher Report

Breaking Down Biggest Differences Between 2011 and 2012 New England Patriots | Bleacher Report

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be writing Patriots columns over at Bleacher Report now, it will give us a chance for some longer analysis and to interact with the great fan base that B/R has.

Once again the Patriots are pushing the envelope on both sides of the ball. On offense they’ve adopted a “blitzkreig” attack that can do whatever the defense is not prepared for. On defense they’re still young and they’ve had some growing pains, but they’ve smartly evolved their defense to handle the problems modern offenses present. As the defense gets more and more experience playing together they should only get better.

The big reason the Patriots were better on defense after the touchdown was because they pressured Bradford more. Whether it was a zone exchange — replacing a lineman with a linebacker or safety to keep the number of rushers at four (that’s how Vince Wilfork wound up in coverage against a running back in the flat) — or sending a fifth or sometimes sixth rusher, the Patriots got after the quarterback more than they have this season.

townienews:

VIDEO: It’s the version of “God Save The Queen” that is sure to delight Pats fans as much as it’s guaranteed to revile the good people of England. And anyone who can carry a tune.

Big thanks to the UK Patriots Club for not only hosting, but also lending their pipes and talents. Simon Cowell might call this “a bit pitchy”, but I think they were brilliant!

As has been Gronk, who I think just become an international icon this weekend. As Masshole Sports likes to say, “Dude’s a friggen beast.”

More soon. Keep Calm And Brady On. And a royal GFY to all.

Feasting when it comes to the spread – Patriots – Boston.com

What we saw against the Rams was McDaniels finding the perfect blend of old-school Tom Brady (23 of 35, 304 yards, four touchdowns), and power running that McDaniels wants to implement for the bigger games down the road (149 yards on 22 carries for Steven Ridley and Shane Vereen). And the Patriots didn’t have to do anything exotic — fake jet screens, throwbacks to Brady, or put two extra linemen on the field — to do it. “I think we’re at our best when we do that and not overanalyze stuff or anything, and we’re able to get it and really go,” receiver Wes Welker said. Amen.

Major kudos are in order for Patriots offensive tackles Nate Solder and Sebastian Vollmer. The two have stood toe-to-toe with some fearsome pass rush duos this season, but perhaps no effort was finer than Sunday’s against Chris Long and Robert Quinn. For the first time this season, the Rams’ duo was held without a sack, and quarterback Tom Brady faced minimal pressure throughout the afternoon. Solder and Vollmer continue to answer the bell when called upon in 2012.

Running back Stevan Ridley finished with 127 yards on 15 carries in Sunday’s 45-7 win over the Rams, for an impressive 8.5-yard average. He had runs of 20, 30 and 41 yards in the game, as the big play was delivered both by air and ground.

After a slow start, Stevan Ridley blitzed the Rams with three runs of 20 yards or more. Ridley’s big-play performance helped contribute to a balanced attack – the Patriots had 38 pass attempts for 321 yards, and 28 carries for 152 yards.
