They’re winners,” Vellano said Tuesday by phone. “They know how to win year in and year out. They play multiple schemes and many different fronts, three-down, four-down. They’ll play multiple positions across the line. I’ve had many reps at each position, which helps me in that category. Just the way they play, grind out games, with guys who play hard every down in that situation.

What kind of impact if any at all do you think Mark Harrison will have on the offense? He seems like a very intriguing player that on paper looks to have the strength, speed and size to be a factor on the outside.

He has to get healthy and make the team first, but if he is certainly one of the players I will be watching closely. You’re right, he is very intriguing given his physical traits and measurables, and in a perfect world could be exactly what this offense needs. He could very well be headed to the PUP list and slide onto the practice squad if he can’t get healthy. No problem playing the long game with him to give him a year in the system.

If you had to make a prediction right now, what do you think Aarong Dobsons stats would be at the end of the season? Ranging from most optimistic to most pessimistic

July 18, 2013 by Mike Dussault

Let’s just go with about what I think he’ll do, which is 35 catches, 400 yards, 4 TDs, and I think that’s a bit on the optimistic end, though I could see his TDs go up with his ability to jump and get the ball.

Deion Branch is largely credited as the lone rookie WR to develop an instant connection with Brady and he put up 43 catches for 489 yards and 2 TDs. It’s more of  passing league now, so my projection for Dobson would really put him a little behind Branch’s overall impact, especially since Dobson would be primarily outside.

New England Patriots: Chandler Jones, defensive end Tom Brady will be Tom Brady, even without four of his top five pass catchers from last season. But New England must be a well-rounded to make a playoff run. Jones started his rookie season flying – quickly becoming a true candidate for Defensive Rookie of the Year – but injuries limited him to six sacks in 13 starts. The Pats need him to be the monster he is capable of being.

Not sure why, but I’ve got a critical eye on Jones in training camp. He started like gangbusters last year, and we really need to see that right out of the gate this year.

Patriots Linebackers Offer Versatility For Hybrid Looks In 2013 :Pats Pub

Good stuff from Steve, and there’s definitely a lot to like from this group. The glaring question is can they improve their coverage? Spikes catches a lot of flack for his coverage skills but I think Mayo deserves some as well. Mayo has the speed and experience and football smarts, there’s just something missing in coverage where he always seems to be an inch off. If he can close that gap he could be one of the best linebackers in the game.

Until the Patriots fix their linebacker coverage problems they’ll continue to get burned by tight ends and receivers in the slot.

Joe Namath says Hard Knocks was a mistake, Patriots are “stronger team” than Jets

Joe Namath says Hard Knocks was a mistake, Patriots are “stronger team” than Jets Can’t really argue with any of Joe’s points, and yes that includes the fact that the Pats fast start against the Bengals really helped out their defense.
