One thought on Harmon is that while he may not play extensively on defense in 2012, the Patriots don’t have an established strong safety of the future besides him on the roster. Adrian Wilson and Gregory are both in their 30s, and Tavon Wilson could be viewed as a free safety option. Harmon doesn’t project to be a consistent playmaker in the back half of the field, but he’s a tough, physical player who can be reliable as a developmental option.

I believe Amendola should be a productive player, based on how New England uses personnel to find favorable mismatches,” he said. “Amendola is a player you have to respect because of the intensity that he plays with and the fact that he’s absolutely fearless and will sacrifice his body for the ball. You can try to get hands on him to slow him down and do things to eliminate space to make it hard for the quarterback to find him quickly, but it’s tough.

Hawkins, 26, spent his first five seasons with the Tennessee Titans, enjoying his most productive season in 2011 — his only full 16-game season — catching 47 passes for 470 yards and a score. He also served as a great special teams player, returning kickoffs and punts at times as well as playing on coverage teams during all five seasons.
