nate solder

I think all young tackles struggle on plays and protections in this league, OK?” he said. “Just do a little thinking. Who did Matt Light replace? Bruce Armstrong. Did anybody think that it was going to be (smooth)? OK. Did you think he had any problems with it to start with? Well hell yeah they all had problems. It is what it is. "Personally, I’m pleased with the way those kids are developing – I’m really pleased with the way they’re developing. Is it the finished product? No and we have a couple weeks to get it to as good as it can be, and then we’re going to play, we’re going to play a game. He started for us at right tackle last year, Nate did, Marcus played some. It is what it is. So whoever goes out there, we’re going to put our best players out on the field and we expected nothing but their best.

Camp Observations: Day 7 – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston

Offensive tackle Nate Solder kick started what became a large fracas between the offense and defense when he shoved linebacker Brandon Spikes, who was already on the ground, after the whistle during an 11-on-11 play. But that wasn’t the only reason Solder caught some eyes on Wednesday night: he showed a greater level of physicality than what was witnessed last season. Solder plays with excellent bend in his stance, allowing him to fire out at the snap, play with body control when he engages defenders, and exert power in his blocks. He moved well to the second level in the running game, knocking over linebackers on multiple occasions.

Great story on Solder’s background. Really excited to see what he can do at left tackle this year. Usually it’s a scary proposition for any team when they replace someone like Matt Light who locked down Tom Brady’s blindside for numerous huge wins over a decade, but Solder should be up to the task.

Really hoping Solder is ready for what the Jets are going to throw at him tomorrow. Not much mention has been made of Calvin Pace-Solder match-up.

Better shot of Nate Solder’s new hair doo… Wonder how long it will be before he’s allowed to just shave the whole thing and start anew.

Today was rookie haircut day apparently, when the vets get the clippers and go nuts giving the rookies all kinds of outrageous new doos. Here’s Nate Solder’s, we call it the “Male Pattern Baldness”. Can’t wait to see more pictures of what went down…

And congrats to Jerod Mayo for winning the Steve Burton Community Service Award. Jerod is a true role model on and off the field, and exemplifies the kind of hard work, focus and dedication needed to be successful in any area of life. I think my Pats Padawan will have to get a 51 jersey when he grows out of his Vrabel.

Patriots close out 2010 with solid 3rd down defense improvement

As you’re probably aware I’ve been harping on third down being the key for success this season. That’s because the Patriots defense has demonstrated that they’re good tacklers and don’t give up a lot of big plays. Most of the time they’re winning on first and second down, so it’s just a matter of winning […]
