malcolm butler

June 11, 2015 by Mike Dussault

Malcolm Butler practiced in front of the media for the first time, and he earned some quality reps alongside Logan Ryan. With Butler’s disciplinary action in the past, today’s involvement was a sign that he wouldn’t be buried on the depth chart upon his return to the field.

I don’t want that play to define me. I don’t want to be a guy who had one great moment then disappeared. Getting to the NFL is hard, but staying there is even harder. There’s always someone out there gunning for your job. Last season, I was that guy trying to take someone’s job. Now, because the hard work I’ve put in — and yeah, because of that interception — I have a chance to lock down my spot on the roster. And when I do, I’m guarding it with my life.

Awesome read written by Malcolm Butler himself! Hat tip to Mark Daniels of the ProJo for the find.

Super Bowl XLIX hero Malcolm Butler feted with hometown parade | The MMQB with Peter King

Never going to get tired of reading these Malcolm Butler stories, this one following him at home during a parade in his honor. Pretty soon the page will turn and it will be interesting to see what Butler does in camp, if he improves, how the coaching staff see him fitting in. From everything we’ve heard out of Butler, it seems like he understands the interception won’t count for much in late July, he’ll have to re-earn everything once again.

[T]hat young man from the New England Patriots made a play – I mean, that is a play that the stars of the game don’t make. He made a play that was … at best that ball gets knocked down and incomplete. But to make an interception on that play … what a phenomenal play. That was the play of a lifetime. “And all credit to him for making it.”

The 2017 Patriots Defense: Can Patchwork Front, Inconsistent Back Get It Done?

The Patriots defense turned in another signature effort against the Bills that we’ve seen in recent weeks — early struggles on third down, some big plays allowed, only to see them tighten up in the second half and allow the offense to pull away. I’m not here to sugar coat it guys, this defense is […]
