duron harmon

August 8, 2013 by Mike Dussault

Harmon’s presence provided an opportunity to watch him against better competition, and learn more about his style of play. He seems to have good instincts, and when the football is thrown in his direction, good ball skills. At 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, his movement skills seem more fluid than 6-foot, 215-pound Wilson’s.

One thought on Harmon is that while he may not play extensively on defense in 2012, the Patriots don’t have an established strong safety of the future besides him on the roster. Adrian Wilson and Gregory are both in their 30s, and Tavon Wilson could be viewed as a free safety option. Harmon doesn’t project to be a consistent playmaker in the back half of the field, but he’s a tough, physical player who can be reliable as a developmental option.

Good stuff, in what is sadly Bedard’s Boston fond farewell weekend….

As far as his role with the Patriots, besides special teams, I think he fits best as the “money” dime back that Tavon Wilson played last season. If Wilson grabs the three-way competition between Adrian Wilson and Steve Gregory, Harmon is another option at money along with Adrian Wilson, Gregory, and Jamie Collins.

My question is on the DT position. Like you, I have been saying that this is where we need the pass rush to come from? I like the Tommy Kelly signing and think he will help. What free agent DTs do you think could be brought in at this stage? How much would you pay Seymour? (I would give him a Shaun Ellis contract). Kelly, Seymour, Wilfork with Forston would be a great roation and allow the rest of the front seven to fall into place (kinda like the Talib aquisition). Any chance this might happen?

Sadly the Seymour ship has definitely sailed, but I agree, just in terms of what he’d bring on the field and what he has left, he’d be a good addition. I’m pretty sure we’ll see an addition at the DT spot on cutdown weekend. Justin Bannan? Sione Pouha? There aren’t a lot of options. Perhaps a […]
