Ever since 2006, the “body language” criticism has been the stupid bar-setter by which all stupid criticism is measured, and now, surprise, surprise, IT’S BACK!

I can only imagine the reaction if Tom nonchalantly walked off the field after his offense went three-and-out again, maybe smirked and gave Dobson a little tap on the ass. “Don’t worry, big guy, we’ll get ‘em next time”. Yeah, the media wouldn’t have even more of a field day with that one.

The fire we see from Brady is why he’s one of the best all-time quarterbacks. If other professional football players on his team can’t handle his level of competitiveness then I suggest they find another line of work. The passion Brady shows is what will continue to show the young members of the team what the expectations are.

I feel like we’re two and 0 in the division were getting the growing pains out of the way and the defense is looking good and being tested. The rookies are being rookies and we were relying on them a ton with all the injuries. By mid season well have Gronk back hopefully Amendola and a squad of rookies with some experience. I know we’re spoiled as Pats fans but we have a bright future ahead. What are your thoughts?

September 16, 2013 by Mike Dussault

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Right now we’re seeing that there are two kinds of fans, those who see poor performance in Week 2 and want to fly off the handle and rush to judgement on anything that can be judged. They likely did the same thing last season after the Pats lost to the Cardinals.

The other group is where you and I reside. We understand that football in September is meaningless unless you lose a bunch of games and kill your playoff chances. Otherwise it’s about trying things out, understanding what you have and what your strengths and weaknesses are.

The WR rebuild was inevitable. It’s fair to criticize the organization for failing to bring in and stick with any young wide receivers from 2005-2012. They’ve made that bed and now they have to lie in it, and there is no other way to do that than stay the course, trust your scouts and coaches, and hope that come November the team starts to click.

It Is What It Is » Inside Man: Chandler Jones bringing pressure from defensive tackle spot

Great stuff from Chris Price on my favorite topic – the interior pass rush. It was tough this weekend and seeing guys like Dontari Poe who looked so quick and tough inside. Hopefully Wilfork and Kelly get on track this weekend, sometimes it takes those vets a little while to kick into high gear.

Why is it harder for some wr’s to understand the patriots offense more then most. It it the route adjustments, is it getting on the same page as brady or is it something else. There are more complicated offense but I’m wondering why people make it seem as if the patriots offense is the most complicated, what do u think

September 16, 2013 by Mike Dussault

Well, there’s all the stuff we’ve talked about excessively… the post snap route adjustments, running the routes the way Brady wants them to be run, but what we’re seeing right now is also just general rookies adjusting to the NFL.

Logically, an offensive system where all the weapons are reading the defense and adjusting accordingly makes the most sense, so really it’s just a matter of time and experience for these new guys.

I am all for the Pats just continuing to throw the new guys out there and giving them a trial by fire. All have shown the get open against NFL defenders, now they just have to refine their routes, and ultimately, catch the ball when they’re open. If they start doing that suddenly the big storyline becomes “Look at Tom Brady’s explosive new weapons!"

It Is What It Is » Rob Ninkovich on M&M: Jets ‘always talking a little bit too much before the game’

Good stuff from the Jet killer…

“I feel like anytime we play the Jets, I just really like getting after them,” said Ninkovich. “It’s always a fun game. They’re always talking a little bit too much before the game anyway.”

The way the offseason is now structured, September has now become an extension of the preseason. With that, teams are still going to be using the month of September to develop their identity. This couldn’t be more true for the Patriots offense. They have to feel good in that locker room right now, that after all the struggles they’ve had and everything they can learn from, they’re still 2-0. This team will be better in December than it is in September. It’s all about damage control right now.

Pats biggest weakness on whole team is defending the middle of the field against the pass. Pats have three great linebackers for defending the run. What they really need is a great linebacker who can defend the pass. Hightower and Spikes are kind of similar. Do they really need BOTH Hightower? Why not trade one of them and get big value in return, players or picks?

As anyone who reads this site knows I am in full agreement with this. It’s unfortunate because I really love how Spikes plays and what he brings to the table. The Pats run defense was the best it’s been in a decade last year, and Spikes was a big part why. One commenter suggested trying […]
