It Is What It Is » Who’s Next: Ten looming contractual questions for Patriots

Nice round-up here from Chris Price, and it already looks like the Pats will have some tough choices. Talib has been stellar so far and it’s frustrating to imagine the Pats lowballing him and letting him walk just as the defense looks like they’re coming around.

He’ll test the market regardless so there’s nothing the Pats can really do but wait and see how his entire body of work this season shapes up. But right now it’s easy to make the argument that he’s a necessary piece of the puzzle.

Bill Belichick on WEEI – 9/23/2013

In case you missed this one, BB gets a little feisty after being pressed about preparing his team to face an opponent’s best game even if the opponent stinks. I blame Albert Breer for getting BB fired up earlier in the day, pressing injury questions.

Good stuff from OT on Bolden. As I’ve said all summer I really like how hard Bolden runs and he also catches the ball pretty well too. He could be a real asset until Shane Vereen returns. Hopefully he’ll continue to get touches and show improvement.

And now a moment trying to get injury information out of Bill Belichick

September 24, 2013 by Mike Dussault

Q: How close was Rob Gronkowski to playing yesterday?
BB: I don’t know. He was inactive.
Q: Did he have a shot to play?
BB: He was inactive.
Q: Going into the day, was there a chance he’d play?
BB: He was inactive for the game.
Q: What about Danny Amendola?
BB: He was inactive too.
Q: I know they were inactive.
BB: They were inactive so they didn’t play.
Q: I think you have an idea how close they were.
BB: Well, they weren’t able to play. What do you want, percentage points? They couldn’t play.
Q: Going into the day, did you know they couldn’t play?
BB: They were inactive.
Q: That doesn’t answer my question.
BB: They were inactive, it’s as simple as that.

Some have asked about defensive tackle Vince Wilfork’s play in recent weeks, as his position usually requires a closer look to get a better feel for what is happening in the trenches. Last week, he was surprisingly single blocked at times by Jets guard Vladimir Ducasse. Against the Buccaneers, he seemed to be more disruptive. For example, it was Wilfork who drew the holding penalty on center Jeremy Zuttah at the start of the fourth quarter, which turned out to be a drive stopper after Tampa Bay had generated some positive momentum on the march. We’ve seen Wilfork dominate games inside, and while that wasn’t the case on Sunday, he was disruptive at times inside.
