What should we expect at their best and worst from an offensive line that has remained the same for the last three years

March 28, 2014 by Mike Dussault

The bottom line is continuity and they’re solid. I still would love to take a center or guard in the second or third round and let them duke it out with Wendell and Connolly in camp. I’ve had just about enough of the undersized try-hards in the middle who get dominated like Terrence Knighton dominated them in the AFC Championship.

And it’s not like Dante Scarnecchia is there anymore to make miracles happen with guys who didn’t even play college football (Stephen Neal).

But again, bottom line, they were pretty good the last two years. Maybe, if things remain this way into another regular season, they can improve and put together a playoff run of solid protection.

But I’m dying for some sizable reinforcements in the draft.

“There’s a difference between a Pro Bowler and a Hall-of-Famer. Aqib Talib is a Pro Bowl-type player. I don’t think anybody will argue how good he played in his year and a half here. Certainly showed the characteristics of a guy who can be a five-time Pro Bowler if you sign him to a five-year deal. [Revis] is a Hall-of-Famer. This is what Randy Moss was in 2007.

"The way it was explained to me at least is, when you look at it, the reason why you keep that financial flexibility is when a rare opportunity like this comes along … there are only so many of these types of players on the entire planet. When you have that opportunity you try and go and get them. You maintain financial flexibility so in these types of cases you have that flexibility to go and strike, and this is a rare, rare, player.”

Albert Breer: Patriots keep flexibility to strike on guys like Revis (via vidriodelmar)

Wilfork likely had to sacrifice some money in the short term, although we will have to see the structure of the contract to know for sure, and understand exactly how much. It appears that whatever he gave up in the short term, he has a chance to earn back in future years, with even more upside.

Compromise means Vince Wilfork can stay awhile with Patriots – ESPN Boston

New England has the easiest remaining schedule in the NFL. ESPN.com’s NFC West blogger Mike Sando recalculated the strength of schedule at midseason. The Patriots’ opposing win percentage in the final eight games is .369. After Sunday’s game against New York, the Patriots play six of their final seven against teams without winning records.
