September 11, 2020 by Tom Shaw-Mellors

Today the final injury report of the week was released, let’s take a look at the game time projections for both team’s, ahead of Sunday’s regular-season opener.

Gunner Olszewski is the major change in today’s report as he is officially out of Sunday’s game, Gilmore and Edelman are off the report and are good to go, Maluia and Keene were present, but in a limited capacity. The new faces appearing in the report were N’Keal Harry and Chase Winovich, but the consensus is that all four will be available.

10 Predictions for the 2020 Patriots

September 11, 2020 by Jason Pombo

New England Patriots 2020 practice squad tracker: List of players added to taxi squad - masslive.com

The Patriots kick off their 2020 campaign at home on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. This will the first game since the departure of Tom Brady, and the first game for Cam Newton as a member of the Patriots. After a long offseason, the Patriots enter this season without a plethora of key contributors on both sides of the ball. Some were lost in free agency or trade, others opted out of the season due to covid concerns.

With an unconventional training camp, without a preseason, it’s truly tough to project how the Patriots will do this season. Some believe that the loss of Brady will result in the Patriots’ down-fall, others believe that Bill Belichick will scheme and game plan through all of this, and the Patriots will continue to have success.

Here are 10 predictions for the 2020 New England Patriots:

Week 1 Injury Report – 9/10

September 10, 2020 by Tom Shaw-Mellors

Pro football is back tonight and I still can’t believe we’ve made it, but here we are. Patriots vs Miami is this Sunday, let’s check in with today’s injury report.

*- New injury/status change

New England Patriots

DID NOT PARTICIPATE

LIMITED
WR Julian Edelman (Knee)
WR Gunner Olszewski (Foot)
LB Cassh Maluia (Knee)*
TE Dalton Keene (Neck)*
CB Stephon Gilmore (Hamstring)*
FULL PARTICIPATION
DL Chase Winovich (Shoulder)

Cajuste was the only player missing from practice today, Mike Reiss reports that he is heading to IR for at least the first three weeks of the season. Maluia did return but joins Edelman and Olszewski in the limited crew. New to the report was Dalton Keene and Stephon Gilmore, two players who will be needed this Sunday, let’s hope the list gets smaller tomorrow.

Patriots Preview: Week 1 vs Miami

September 9, 2020 by Tom Shaw-Mellors

After what has been quite possibly the weirdest off-season in the history of the NFL, we’re finally within touching distance of regular season football. This Sunday the New England Patriots welcome the Miami Dolphins to Gillette Stadium, and I’m pumped.

Date: Sunday, September 13
Game Time: 1:00 EST
Venue: Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, MA
Network: CBS
All-time record: Miami Dolphins lead series, 56-53 (including playoffs)

Patriots placing RB Damien Harris on IR, promoting UDFA RB J.J. Taylor to the active roster

September 7, 2020 by Tom Shaw-Mellors

The Patriots have signed RB J.J. Taylor from their practice squad and placed Damien Harris on IR, per source. Harris will miss at least 3 games. Taylor had a great camp.

— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 7, 2020

A busy end to the day as the Patriots are promoting UDFA RB J.J. Taylor to the active roster in addition to placing RB Damien Harris on IR. The biggest news here is that the Patriots streak of UDFA’s making the roster continues.

Harris was one of the potential candidates I projected for IR in last week’s Sunday supplement, he injured his finger during camp which required surgery. Although not overly surprising, this is disappointing as I’d hoped to see Harris finally get his opportunity with the team, that’s now on hold for the time being.

Both DT Beau Allen and Harris will miss at least three weeks until they’re eligible to return.

Patriots placing DT Beau Allen on IR, promoting LB Cassh Maluia to the active roster

September 7, 2020 by Tom Shaw-Mellors

Further movement in the Pats camp today as Field Yates reports that the team is placing DT Beau Allen on IR.

The Patriots are expected to place DT Beau Allen on IR, per source.

He’s been absent since near the start of training camp with an undisclosed injury, but is eligible to return from IR as soon as after three weeks.

— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 7, 2020

Hardly a surprise, with Allen absent for almost every training session through-out camp, his trip to the injured reserve list is now confirmed. Now, with the newly implemented IR rules, a player can return to the main roster after three weeks, but I’ve got a feeling that Allen won’t be back anytime soon.

The #Patriots are promoting rookie LB Cassh Maluia to the 53-man roster, source said. They needed the roster spot through cutdown day, now bring him back up.
