Do you think this is one of the more versatile teams belichick has had, how do you think he will use it offensively and defensively

September 2, 2014 by Mike Dussault

I’m going to say this is the most versatile team Belichick has ever fielded, and the high-end talent is close to the high-end talent of the 2000s team. Like all teams they still have some questions at certain positions and a couple injuries in the wrong spots could seriously derail their chances, but overall it looks like this Patriots team can play any kind of game they need to.

Offensively, I’ve heard that the Patriots believe they’ll be unstoppable if Gronk and Dobson are on the field at the same time. Maybe that’s a bit of stretch, but it appears they can attack all parts of the field and have size/speed at every position.

What they lose a bit with the lack of a power running back they’ll make up for with Shane Vereen and James White in the passing game. Put those two on the field at the same time and see how defenses scramble.

Defensively it’s the best group of DBs they’ve probably ever had. There’s so much depth and versatility it’s hard to predict who will be where. Those DBs will only help the pass rush but Chandler Jones and Dominique Easley could be two huge pieces of the Super Bowl puzzle. These are pass rushers who will have to be schemed for, not something Patriots are used to having in recent years.

I’m so excited to see how Belichick puts it all together on the field because there’s really nothing they can’t do and it will likely be totally different from week-to-week.

If you read one thing today, make it this great article from Erik Frenz breaking down the Patriots’ requirements for wide receivers. It’s the best thing I’ve read on the topic with a lot of insight from the receivers.

It Is What It Is » 5 things you have to know about Dolphins

Good way to kick off season opener week! Certainly makes bouncing back from a long weekend a little early.

No matter how these two teams end up finishing the season, this one is going to be hotly contested with the outcome likely in doubt until the fourth quarter. That’s just how divisional season openers go. The fact that it’s in Miami only reinforces that this is going to be a hot, sweaty war. Yay!

I feel great, I’m ready to get this thing going and ready to play on Sunday,” Siliga said. Siliga said he needs to shake off some rust after missing significant time. “It’s been about a month since I have taken my last snap, so that’s what today is for and the next few days – to get back out there running around with the fellas and see what I can pick up.

Any chance you think tyms gets meaningful snaps this year

Not impossible, but I think it has to start with him beating out Dobson in training camp. He did it last year, but a big part of that was Dobson’s injuries opening the door. There should be a roster spot for one of the two. If he makes the team, then I think it’s probably […]
