I think we have a fairly wide foundation and scheme, over 15 years, in all three phases of the game. We don’t have our complete roster at this point, so I don’t even know who’s on the team,” he said. “We’ll teach everyone the basics of the system. At some point we’ll modify that, and whether it will go one way or the other, I don’t know. Game-plan weeks we’ll specifically tailor it to the team we’re playing; that’s pretty much the way we’ve always done it, and I don’t see that fundamentally changing.

About as close as you’ll get to hearing anything of substance out of BB this morning. Aka “It is what it is”
10 things we learned from New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick – ESPN Boston

Couldn’t be more confused at all the pats free agency hating. With Sheard joining Nink and Jones we very well may have the most versatile three man edge rotation in the league. Combine that with a red zone offense that could feature Gronk/Chandler/Lafell/Blount and how can anyone not be [bleeping] their pants thinking about the potential dominance?

Come on, what else is there to do in the spring but hate on the Pats’ free agency moves. Except of course in 2007 when the jumped on Adalius Thomas. And how did that work out…?

I still would like to see some moves at guard and running back, maybe some kind of WR weapon via the draft, but yeah, things look good. And really, why wouldn’t they? You could put me at wide receiver this year and the offense would still be pretty good.

I love the Chandler addition and I think with a full offseason we’ll see even more out of LaFell and Wright. And it seems like Amendola really found his niche and Brady’s confidence toward the end of last year.

And I’m pretty sure they’ll be fine with James White and Travaris Cadet at the receiving back role.

This is what they always do. Find undervalued guys and give them team-friendly deals. Some of them will get cut. One or two of them might turn into Ninkovich or Brian Waters or Steve Gregory or any of the other free agent vets who came in for cheap money and ended up playing a role.

Finally, Sheard is a perfect addition, albeit four years later than we all wanted.

I put my faith and respect with Bill [Belichick] and we have a lot of thorough discussions. He’s done pretty good the last 15 years. The fan in me argues all the time with [Belichick]. But he’s got a pretty good record.

[F]or the fourth time in the last 11 years, the NFL’s competition committee will look to change or alter its rules because of something that happened on the field during a Patriots game.

How would you rank the 6 Super Bowls in the brady/belichick era from a pure entertainment standpoint

March 23, 2015 by Mike Dussault

Well every single one of them came down to the last drive so it’s a tough call. Let’s start with least entertaining:

6. SB39 – If Donovan McNabb had any gas left it might’ve been an interesting last drive, but alas the Eagles have nothing left and he throws a dynasty-sealing pick.

5. SB46 – Just kind of fizzled out, letting Bradshaw score. Still had a final shot at the end zone but this one was decided by the Welker drop and Manningham sideline catch.

4. SB42 – Pats were flat the entire game and Brady was getting killed. Still they took the lead at the end, and the helmet catch then Burress touchdown were the signature plays. Bomb to Moss falls just incomplete as well.

3. SB36 – Obviously one of the greatest Super Bowl upsets of all time and a great ending, but was there really much doubt Vinatieri was going to miss?

2. SB38 – Just an incredible back and forth after a slow start that once again came down to a kick there was no way Vinatieri would miss.

1. SB49 – Maybe this is recency bias, but no other Super Bowl had such an incredible swing from almost certainly losing to a game-stealing play. Back and forth all game. Worthy opponent, unreal finish, this last one was my favorite.
