Rookie QB Greg McElroy says there was a ‘corrupt mindset’ in Jets locker room with ‘extremely selfish individuals’ this season | New York Daily News

“It’s definitely not a fun place to be,” McElroy told an Alabama radio station on Wednesday of the mood in the lockerroom. “I can assure you.”

“It’s the first time I’ve ever been around extremely selfish individuals,” said McElroy, who was a seventh round pick out of Alabama. “I think that’s maybe the nature of the NFL. But there were people within our lockerroom that didn’t care whether we won or loss… as long as they got their… they really had a good game individually. And that’s the disappointing thing.“

Aaron Hernandez now a serious weapon for Patriots – Sports – The Boston Globe

Hernando is coming on at the right time of year. As we said on today’s podcast, his development has to be something that is considered in the “Patriots can’t draft or develop wide receivers” conversation. Though he’s a tight end, he functions often as a wide receiver and has picked up the offense and Tom Brady’s trust.

This post is meant as a little prayer that Logan Mankins will be ready to go next Saturday. He wasn’t at practice today so that’s got me just slightly worried. But I highly doubt a player BB dubs “super tough” would miss a playoff game.

The Patriots won 13 games this season, which meant that they awarded practice player of the week honors 13 different times. The practice player of the week is awarded to those who the coaching staff feels best prepared the Patriots in the days leading up to a victory. Practice players of the week wear a black jersey on those weeks in recognition of their work. Rookie Markell Carter, the sixth-round draft choice from Central Arkansas, earned the highest total of black jerseys this season (7).

Markell Carter tops practice rankings – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston

This is a very good sign for next year. We all knew Carter would need some time to develop after coming out of a small college, but all reports about how he’s done this year have been positive. He’s also added some weight.

Now the question becomes where does he fit on defense? Is he an OLB hybrid type? Or could he play 4-3 defensive end like Andre Carter where it would be necessary to be extremely stout at the point of attack. These are questions to weigh in the off-season, but Carter should be an interesting player to watch in camp this summer.

Patriots training camp opens one week from today! Finally we can put the superficial rankings and arguments about superficial rankings behind us and focus on real football. There’s no secret that the 2017 Pats look stacked and could be an efficiency nightmare for their opposition, but there are still plenty of questions that I have […]
