Houston has established itself as the cream of the crop in the AFC with convincing wins over both Baltimore and Denver earlier this season. This Monday night will provide a true test for the Patriots.

Getting to know the Texans – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston

Is it just me or does this feel like the biggest game in a long time for the Patriots? Can’t remember a meaningful game like this in December.

Peter King’s Top 5

I don’t usually post power rankings but had to share this from Peter King today…

1. New England (9-3). What a schedule over the next two months, of games scheduled and not (yet) scheduled. Tick … tick … tick.

2. Houston (11-1). Just seven days until Texans-Pats, Monday-nighter, Foxboro.

3. San Francisco (8-3-1). Just 13 days until Niners-Pats, Sunday-nighter, Foxboro.

4. Denver (9-3). Just 48 days until Broncos-Pats, AFC Championship Game, Foxboro.

5. Atlanta (11-1). Just 62 days until Falcons-Pats, Super Bowl XLVII, New Orleans.

Picked-up pieces from first-half review – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston

Picked-up pieces from first-half review – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston

Nice to see Trevor Scott having a good game yesterday, stepping up when the Patriots needed him. I was really high on Scott coming into the season because of his versatility, and thought the Pats were getting him at the right time just coming off a full year recovery from an ACL injury.

Due to the emergence of Chandler Jones they haven’t really needed Scott that much but the quality snaps he’s getting now could be a long term benefit, especially in sub packages once Jones comes back.

[H]aving veteran Trevor Scott allowed them to incorporate some new defensive wrinkles. Specifically, Scott was used as a man-to-man coverage player on a tight end, as he checked tight end Anthony Fasano on the second play of the Dolphins’ second drive. Scott showed like he was going to rush before walking over Fasano for the man-to-man assignment. The Patriots may have used Scott in this way both because of his good reactive athleticism and instincts, and also because Fasano is just an average athlete for his position. Nonetheless, Scott made his mark early and often in his first start as a Patriot, finishing with two critical sacks on the day.

BREAKING – WR N’Keal Harry formally requests trade out of New England

Well, I certainly didn’t see this coming. Actually, that’s a bit of a lie, I saw Harry potentially leaving this off-season, however, I didn’t see him and his agent requesting a formal trade from the team. I actually saw Harry’s first-ever NFL touchdown in person at the game against Dallas in 2019, a rookie season […]
