Patriots vs. Ravens: Aqib Talib a Key Difference for New England in Rematch
Good read from Frenz, and one of the most interesting new dynamics of this game is the Patriots confidence playing man-to-man defense. The Ravens have plenty of weapons and how the Patriots choose to match up will be one of the areas I’m most curious to watch.
The biggest problem I see is that they can deal with the wide receivers, and even Mayo on Ray Rice is okay, but the trickle down effect means Spikes, Hightower and Wilson will be left to deal with the Ravens tight ends. That could be the area Joe Flacco most tries to exploit.

The difference between this year’s AFC Championship and last year’s AFC Championship is that they are different teams. We’ve got new players and some of the same players that were in that game; they’ve got new players and some of the same players as well. Nothing matters that happened in the regular season. Nothing matters that happened last week. We’re two good teams that are going to squaring off in this game. All that really matters is who goes out and performs.

Great must-read article for any X-and-O heads out there like me…
For many years, the Erhardt-Perkins offense was known as the original ground-and-pound, a conservative, run-first offense summed up by Erhardt’s mantra, “You throw to score and run to win.” With the help of his assistants, Belichick’s primary innovation was to go from an Erhardt-Perkins offense to an Erhardt-Perkins system, built on its method of organizing and naming plays. The offense itself would be philosophically neutral. This is how, using the terminology and framework of what was once thought to be the league’s least progressive offensive system, Brady and Belichick built one of the most consistently dynamic and explosive offenses in NFL history. From conservative to spread to blistering no-huddle, the tactics — and players — have changed while the underlying approach has not.2
Anquan Boldin is confident in the Ravens heading into the AFC championship rematch with the Patriots. When talking with reporters Wednesday in the Ravens’ locker room, the veteran receiver was asked how Sunday will be different than last year. “Because we’ll make it different,” Boldin responded. How will they make it different?
“We’ll win,” Boldin said plainly.

Yeah, your thoughts = my thoughts. Grab an OL and a DL, veteran guys who get cut because their teams don’t want to guarantee their salaries. That’s why I think guys like Buchanan and Bequette are likely to get the axe (try to get them on the practice squad). They’re just too thin at OL/DL […]
