Chandler Jones won’t tell Arthur Jones how his ankle feels | ProFootballTalk

Chandler Jones won’t tell Arthur Jones how his ankle feels | ProFootballTalk

Good job, Chandler.

The Patriots take secrecy about injuries seriously. So seriously that rookie defensive end Chandler Jones won’t tell his own brother how he’s feeling. Of course, that’s largely because Chandler’s brother, Arthur Jones, plays for the Ravens. Arthur told reporters this week that he saw Chandler suffer an ankle injury on Sunday and was concerned, but Chandler wouldn’t tell him how he was doing because he doesn’t want the Ravens to have any insight. “I know he got rolled up bad last week, so I was trying to figure out if he was going to play or not and get the inside scoop,” Arthur Jones said, via USA Today. “But he’s doing a good job not telling me anything.”

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Film Room: Conference Championships

Great stuff here with beautiful All-22 screen grabs.

The Patriots have a ferocious front seven. It’s allowed Belichick (and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia) to predominantly use two-deep safety concepts throughout the season. However, that front seven did not do well against Baltimore in Week 3. For whatever reason, New England’s linebackers were reactionary and undisciplined that night. The question is: how spooked is Belichick by that Week 3 film? Does he believe his linebackers just had a bad night? Or does he believe the Ravens run game is capable of ruining his team’s season? (Belichick surely remembers the 2009 Wild Card Weekend, when the Ravens went into Foxboro and rushed for 234 yards on 52 attempts.)

You know, Damon,” Huard recalled Brady saying, “I’ve been playing this game my whole life. I’ve started a couple games now, and it’s the same game, man. It’s no different. I kid you not, it’s not that hard. I’m going to be a great one. I’m going to be one of the best at this game.

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | New England and the Top Offensive DVOA Games Ever

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | New England and the Top Offensive DVOA Games Ever

Remember how the Patriots’ single-game DVOA against Houston was surprisingly high? Well, it turns out it wasn’t just very high. It was “top ten of all-time high,” at least on the offensive side of the ball. Eighth, to be exact. The Patriots had a lot of mid-range gains rather than depending on a couple of big plays, plus they had very few plays that lost yardage and no turnovers. They did this against the defense that ranked No. 3 in DVOA this season.
