Why do you think that was the case that you flew so far under the radar?

DH: To tell you the truth, I don’t know. I just play with great players. You have Logan Ryan on the same defense as me. You have Steve Beauharnais, a great middle linebacker. And then you have Khaseem Greene, Big East Defensive Player of the year, so it can be easy for a good player to fly under the radar. But obviously the New England Patriots saw something in me that they liked and they went with it and took their [inaudible]. I’m nothing but appreciative that such a great organization would have that much faith in me to come in and help the organization win games.

Also mentioned he could play both safety positions.

Our Patriots Draft Selection Reviews

April 27, 2013 by Mike Dussault

Here’s some quick linkage to everything we wrote yesterday about the four new Patriots:

Grading all four of the Pats picks in one place.

How Jamie Collins fits into the Pats.

How Aaron Dobson fits into the Pats.

How Logan Ryan fits into the Pats.

How Duron Harmon fits into the Pats.

Day 3 Mock Draft.

Some other overall thoughts…

I’m excited to see how they use Jamie Collins. The fact that they spent their first pick on him tells me a lot. I didn’t think defensive end was a huge need, but it seems like the desire to get more athletic trumps everything.

The fact is that the guy is an athletic freak, and I’m sure BB will find a way to maximize his talents.

WIth Ryan and Harmon joining the secondary I say just throw them all in the mix and see who emerges from training camp healthy and playing well.  Ras-I Dowling better have himself a camp.

I don’t know what exactly they saw in Harmon (no one does), but it will be interesting to see where he starts out. Clearly BB values the strong safety position a lot given where offenses are headed.

Hoping they grab another receiver or two today.

He can explain the techniques, his assignments, what other guys are doing at Marshall. We’d look at things that we did, then come back and talk about them. He remembered how we did them, how we call them, things like that. He’s a pretty intelligent guy. He has good recall of what [Marshall] did. He had a good understanding and grasp of learning, taking new information, processing that and being able to understand it and apply it. Tell him something and then see a play a few plays later and say, ‘What would you do on this play if they did this, they did that’? There’s different ways to measure all that, but he’s a pretty impressive kid. He’s a mature kid. He’s pretty smart.

Saying all the right things, I really hope this works out…

I can’t think of a better person to be a Patriot alongside myself other than Duron Harmon.

Presents a long, lean frame that NFL teams look for in a stand-up pass rusher. Quick feet and long strides help him close on quarterbacks, move down the line to crash on runs, as well as give him the short-area agility to move in coverage with slot receivers for short periods despite his height and length. Short area quickness, and the ability to redirect in an instant. Power hands at times. Capable of shedding in either direction to contain or fill a gap. Knows to knock receivers at the line and crossers off their routes with his strong arm extension. Has the length to wrap up ballcarriers trying to avoid him in the backfield, as well as grab backs running away from him.

Presents a tall, long build prototypical of outside vertical receivers. Runs a bit high but has a fair three-step game off the line. Ankle flexion to create separation on comeback patterns. Possesses strong hands, length, and good concentration to snatch high and wide passes. Tracks the ball well over his shoulder and makes acrobatic one-handed catches. Can make a catch with a defender draped on him. Difficult for smaller cornerbacks to drag him down, as he will churn through contact to get the extra yardage. Able to free himself off press coverage using his hands.

Ranking New England Patriots’ Best Remaining Free-Agency Options | Bleacher Report

Ranking New England Patriots’ Best Remaining Free-Agency Options | Bleacher Report Some interesting choices here from Frenz and a lot of them make a lot of sense. There’s little question that significant holes remain, and even if they’re only filled by low-end free agents, the Pats will not enter the draft with any glaring needs. […]
