They looked great obviously, but let’s see how they look in January when they’re playing the best teams and there’s plenty of film to breakdown of what they’re doing. We all saw the 2007 Pats get off to a crazy start where they were scoring at will. Then they started to run out of gas, teams started to play them tighter and by December, January and February they were no longer blowing teams out.
Not concerned about Amendola, but it’s possible Dobson sits out. Wouldn’t be a huge loss as I don’t expect much out of him until November.
I think we’ll see a lot of Amendola and Thompkins, with Edelman working in, and maybe a little bit of Boyce. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Ridley and Vereen out there together either.
Biggest question is how they use Hoomanawanui and Sudfeld at the tight end position. I’d say it’s likely we see Cannon used as a tight end quite a bit since I expect the Pats to really try to pound the ball on the ground.
Call it a breakthrough moment for Talib. On Wednesday, the Patriots cornerback was asked about the comments from Johnson where the Bills receiver and noted birthday cake aficionado said he believed New England didn’t have anyone who could stop him. Talib paused for a moment, and for a second, it looked like he really wanted to say something … but he stopped, waited a beat and responded by saying, “I don’t watch NFL Network.” While Talib was quiet, you can be sure that material found its way to every single member of the New England defense this week, Talib included.

I like football. I like the game. I like the players. I like what it’s all about,” Belichick added. “Every part of it, whether it’s assembling a team, working with new players, working with veteran players that are experienced and extremely talented at the highest level, game-planning, scouting, preparation, practice, games – I enjoy all of it.
