Brandon Spikes spent the early half of practice working out in the bubble and was held to the sideline when he returned. He didn’t get onto the field for team drills until the last set of 11-on-11s.

Tough to read too much into this. We’ll see how it plays out in the next couple days.

Rookie cornerback Logan Ryan had a strong day, picking off a pass and breaking up another. The rap on Ryan based off of draft research was that he lacked top end speed. In watching him today, it felt as though he was always just fast enough to stick with whichever wide receiver he was covering. He has good length, too.
Big practice for Adrian Wilson. He intercepted a pass on a trick play and dove to break up a Ryan Mallett pass on the goal line.

Two young pass catchers that continue to stand out are tight end Zach Sudfeld and wide receiver KenBrell Thompkins. Both had plenty of positive moments throughout the session. Sudfeld made a few nice catches in traffic, while Thompkins had some impressive receptions of his own. (That didn’t mean either one of them had a perfect day, however. Thompkins could be seen later in the session taking a lap, while a ball for Sudfeld from Mallett was picked off by Adrian Wilson.)

It was a challenge I made to myself, because I saw the way we play here,” Vereen said earlier this week in one of the tunnels at Gillette Stadium. “I had never been a part of a team that is so physically tough—and mentally tough. Once I got that hint, and decided that I needed […]
