New England Patriots place Rob Gronkowski on physically unable to perform list | masslive.com
Here’s the PUP list, with the big surprise being Ballard, and Edelman/Harrison/Armstead being slight buzz kills as well.
McDonald is penciled into most early 53-man rosters (as are Ballard/Edelman/Armstead), they’ll all need to get back asap because every day of camp missed sets them back significantly.
Armstead started 17 games for USC over his first three seasons, then sat out his senior season because of heart problems. All 32 teams were scared away by Armstead’s medical issues, so he went up to the CFL to prove himself, and ended up a CFL All-Star with 6.0 sacks and 43 tackles for the Toronto Argonauts. He’s raw but powerful, with long arms and a high motor.

Armstead going on PUP due to “non-football illness” is certainly a bit of a buzz kill for most of us who were simply penciling him in as the top interior pass rushers in the sub defense. Will be interesting to see if this is related to the heart attack he had at USC, and how long it might affect him.

It Is What It Is » Want to try the Patriots’ conditioning test? Good luck
Flashback from last year with Chris Price attempting the conditioning run. I always wanted to try it until seeing him try it. Now, I’m all set.
Tedy: My test was three sets of ten 50-yard sprints. You had to complete each sprint in seven seconds, and you had 30 seconds in between each sprint. In between the three sets of ten 50-yard sprints, you got a break of three minutes.
Conditioning tests will be happening today/tomorrow, here’s a good look into what they entail.

Not too hard to decide who gets the Bottom Line player of the Week today, obviously it goes to the all-time touchdowns for a tight end in a season record holder Rob Gronkowski. Expect every single AFC East team to have stopping Gronk as one of their primary personnel acquisition motivations.
