Our projection on a fair Talib long-term deal for both sides would be three years, $21 million, with $12 million in bonuses and guarantees ($6 million signing bonus, $6 million 2014 option bonus/potentially paid on a per-game basis). If I’m Talib, I’d resist the structure of a per-game roster bonus payout structure, and if I’m the Patriots, I’d hope to protect the team by keeping it as part of the deal based on Talib’s injury history. I could envision that being a potential sticking point that is ultimately worked out/not worked out based on if another team is willing to up the ante on the open market in that area.

If the Pats can get a 2nd rounder for Mallett I would be thrilled and yet, sorry for the team who gets him and the hands of their receivers and the fans who don’t pay attention in the lower bowl of their stadium.

Here goes…

  1. That their scheme strictly dictates their player acquisitions.
  2. The BB has no personality/sense of humor.
  3. That the “Patriot Way” means they only draft choir boys.
  4. That taping signals was isolated to the Pats and that it gave them some kind of significant unfair advantage.
  5. That one can be a “genius” at coaching football.
  6. That yards allowed tells the whole story about their defense.
  7. That Tom Brady is a “system” quarterback.
  8. That Belichick made Brady or Brady made Belichick.
  9. That 3-4 vs. 4-3 means much of anything.
  10. That they’re a pass rushing deep threat away from a Super Bowl win.

Thanks for the comment and advice. Now is the time that I’m evaluating ways to improve the site. I welcome any thoughts/advice about the kind of things you’d like to see more of in my Pats coverage. 

Would like to use more GIFs in my analysis and considering adding some video features, yes, with my mug front and center. More podcasts? More pics? More linkage? Less linkage? More Q & A?

I’ll be getting back into Saturday Best of links as soon as the news starts to pick back up along with offseason throwback thursday featuring stuff from the old blog and Tuesdays will be Pats history days.
