Troy Niklas or Dominique Easley? one guy can help the offense keep rolling in the likely even that gronk goes down again and the other guy might or might not be the next Ras I Dowling. asking for both Crichton and Kirksey seems to be too much but if you can get pressure from places other than the front of the line then why not

April 28, 2014 by Mike Dussault

I’d go Easley in that situation, though I think both players are good fits. It just boils down to who’s going to help where they most need it? Not crazy to think Gronk finally gets and stays healthy this year and then how much do you really need Niklas? I mean, they did get by with essentially zero tight end threats for the large bulk of last year. It’s not ideal, but the position doesn’t make or break your offense.

But when I look at a potential elite interior rusher, that could be a defensive game-changer in the spots where the Pats have struggled most (third-down especially) in recent years.

As for Kirksey and Crichton, I think those are positions of need, especially for depth, so I think they’ll be filled in the later rounds.

That said, give me a trench player in round one (DE/DT/OG) and I’m happy.

Bid for a chance to meet Tom Brady and Bill Belichick!

April 28, 2014 by Mike Dussault

I’m pretty sure if I ever meet BB and TFB it will be extremely awkward for all of us. I imagine it would be a lot of me trying to play it cool but coming off totally not cool. “Remember that time you guys won all those game? That was awesome”….

But that should stop the rest of you out there from making a bid on this chance-of-a-lifetime for a Patriots fan.

You meet the biggest legends of Patriots football history, get a VIP game experience and the money goes to a good cause. Wins all around!

Gisele may be off limits, but questions about how Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are going to get the Pats their 4th Super Bowl ring are fair game for the winning bidder to meet the high-performing duo in Foxborough at the Patriot’s Training Camp.  Four tickets and pre-game field passes to a 2014 home game are also available to the loyal fan. The auction benefits the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Human Rights and is online until May 13 at www.rfkauction.com. And to add to the healthy rivalry, there’s also a Giants item up for bidding valued at $4,000.

Just a couple weeks left and reminder, we haven’t been the Giants since 2007…

Twitter Q&A: Jamie Collins’ breakout bid, Pats’ value of pass rushers, fifth-year options in draft class | The Blitz with Jeff Howe & Karen Guregian | Boston Herald

Lots of good nuggets in here, like Jamie Collins potentially never coming off the field and Josh Kline pushing Dan Connolly at right guard (or maybe pushing Connolly back to center?).

Why Bill Belichick probably will draft Vanderbilt offensive lineman Wesley Johnson | Shutdown Corner – Yahoo Sports

Why Bill Belichick probably will draft Vanderbilt offensive lineman Wesley Johnson | Shutdown Corner – Yahoo Sports

Good recap of BB being in certain places then drafting certain guys. Not sure how much of a lock it is that he takes anyone, but what it does show is how much BB loves coaching.

You’d think at this point, with multiple Super Bowl wins and having built the NFL franchise that is the picture of success, that a lot of coaches would be content to sit back and let their lackey’s get out on the road and do this kind of stuff.

But not BB, he’s out there meeting with players and working with them because he still loves it. Hopefully that continues on for a long time.
