That was the game plan – hit them in the mouth early and try to get them to shut it down,

Boston Herald: Chandler Jones’ regular season in jeopardy, out a minimum of six weeks with hip injury | The Blitz | with Jeff Howe & Karen Guregian | Boston Herald

Boston Herald: Chandler Jones’ regular season in jeopardy, out a minimum of six weeks with hip injury | The Blitz | with Jeff Howe & Karen Guregian | Boston Herald

Looks like the regular season fate of the Patriots will be determined without Chandler Jones making much, if any, impact.

This feels a lot like last year. The Patriots entered 2013 with no depth behind their starters at defensive tackle and lost both of them to season-enders early in the season.

This year there was no depth behind the starters at linebacker and defensive end. Now both those positions have essentially had season-enders.

Last year unknowns like Chris Jones, Joe Vellano and Sealver Siliga stepped up and proved capable.

The fate of the 2014 Pats will depend on unknowns like Dominique Easley, Zack Moore and Akeem Ayers proving themselves capable.

Patriots Defense 8th in Bendability, Low 20s in Everything Else

The favorite quote mentioned by Patriots fans when people bag on our defense is that it’s a “bend don’t break” style. So yeah, we give up a lot of yards and first downs (i.e. the bend part which feels like we’re getting bent over and violated) before buttoning up when it counts most and holding […]
