AFC Championship could swing on Phillips’s schemes

AFC Championship could swing on Phillips’s schemes

Lots of good stuff on Pats-Broncos in here from Bedard, including some advice for Wade Phillips. Phillips’ approach in this one will be immediately apparent and the more curves he can throw at Brady/Belichick to decipher initially the more possessions they can buy their offense. If managed correctly that could take it down to the wire. But Brady/Belichick will figure it all out eventually.

Patriots-Broncos, Panthers-Cardinals breakdowns | The MMQB with Peter King

Always enjoy Andy Benoit’s detailed x-and-o breakdowns. Here he suggest a number of ways the Broncos could defend the Patriots, but from listening to Greg Bedard on Felger and Mazz this week it sounds like Wade Phillips will just keep doing what he does and everyone in the NFL knows it.

Smart move by Bill this week to opt for rest over intense practice? Obviously the team is banged up, and the opponent is one they’ve already seen this year.

January 19, 2016 by Mike Dussault

Yeah, I think the Patriots playing a clean game as close to maximum health as they can get is all that really matters. Scheme/gameplan will be pretty straightforward, the DBs have seen these receivers before. Just have to get everyone on the same page.

On a side note I love how the Broncos are already talking trash about Brady. Did they learn nothing from the Rocky movies? I just don’t understand teams who feel the need to go saying shit the week before a game. Totally unnecessary.

Biggest trakeway from the combine so far — there are so many receivers to like for the Patriots in this draft. Based on speed and quickness, the Patriots could pick up one anywhere from late 1 to the 4th and get what they look for as far as measurables go. Unless Keenan Allen falls at 29, I think there’s no need to go WR in round 1. Just wait for the Da’Rick Rodgers, Quinton Pattons, Markus Wheatons or even Justin Hunters to fall to 59

Yeah I definitely agree with this. Justin Hunter is one of the guys that has pinged my radar for sure, but after his combine performance he might not last until 59. Thinking more and more the Pats will trade out of 29 unless a player they love falls to them.
