… I think generally speaking, this is how it’s been described to me: You want to know Tom Brady‘s mindset going into this, think the Tom Brady who is chewing out teammates on the sideline. In the middle of the game who is yelling at people, cursing, screaming, that Tom Brady, that is the Tom Brady we’re going to get here in today’s hearing and moving forward, whatever course that is. I think that Tom Brady is absolutely willing and determined to fight this, to see this through.

“He doesn’t believe he did anything wrong. I believe that this is on path to go to the courts. If it goes to the courts, they are questioning the process, not what he did, but the process by which this was done and I think at that point in time he has a chance to have this completely lifted, not serve any games. And if that is the case, why would he not attempt to at least do that?”

Tomorrow will anti-climactic for those of us on the outside, what I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall.

Assuming Scott chandler makes the roster, what do you think the similarities and differences in the two tightend offense being compared to when Hernandez played

June 19, 2015 by Mike Dussault

The physical differences between Chandler and Hernandez are obvious – about six inches and 30 pounds. While Chandler isn’t the blocker Gronk is, despite his size, but he’s still going to be more effective than Hernandez was.

You won’t have the same versatility they had with Hernandez, who even took running back snaps and was deadly in the open field, but in the red zone it’s literally a monumental task to cover two tight ends who are over 6′6″ and that’s assuming they aren’t running at you to block.

Simply, I think the Gronk/Chandler combo will be the more physical one, with a better threat of having both block in the running game. So that should give the Patriots a little better time dictating matchups, because with Hernandez you didn’t necessarily have to respect him as a blocker because he was the same size as most of your linebackers.

Chandler might not be a devastating blocker, but he’ll have a size advantage over just about anyone you try to put in his way.

Would we still be at DefCon 5 levels of panic/outrage/moral finger wagging if it had been the Patriots (and not the St. Louis Cardinals) who had hacked into another team’s player development systems?

June 19, 2015 by Mike Dussault

I can’t even imagine how much more of a story it would be if it were the Patriots who were caught doing that. The funny thing is that it certainly seems like something the Patriots would totally do, doesn’t it? And Belichick’s connection to Tony LaRussa and the Cardinals only makes it more funny. But yeah, the mob would certainly be calling for a significant Belichick suspension, no question about it.

As for the remainder of the team’s key free agents, it’s been completely silent on wide receiver Julian Edelman, and there haven’t been any negotiations with center Ryan Wendell or running back LeGarrette Blount, according to sources. And the Pats also appear unlikely to trade quarterback Ryan Mallett due to a faded market, according to […]
