My sneaking suspicion is that Ninkovich is coming off the field and Hightower will play more of an edge role on clear passing down situations. But as I’ve said before there are just so many options with so many athletes on defense that it’s hard to say what they WILL do, because they CAN do so many things and that’s the whole point.

Saw you have Tyms and Gibson making the team but not Dobson, what’s your thought process on that
Dobson just returned to practice yesterday, but at this point how can we count on him for anything? He has been almost constantly battling something ever since he arrived here. And he doesn’t play special teams, so unless he lights it up the last three preseason games and stay healthy, I’m leaning toward Gibson because he simply can stay on the field.
Tyms plays special teams and has good downfield speed so I just see more value with him there.
But the book is slowly closing on Dobson. Year three was when they cut Chad Jackson as well. No one needs a bigger three weeks than him.

Check out a brief trailer for America’s Game, where it looks like they went with Edelman, Gronk and McCourty. Hard to argue with that trio. In my unofficial poll early in the offseason the winners were Edelman, Brady and, gasp, Revis.

Interesting post here from Rich, pointing out how disruptive Easley was against the run, something that’s kind of counterintuitive given the kind of explosion he has. Obviously I’ve been on the Easley train since I first saw his film. If he has a big season look out.
Mason’s hands aren’t always connected to his feet as a pass-blocker, which explains why he was beaten badly to the outside shoulder multiple times in Thursday’s preseason opener on sacks/pressures. From a pure technique standpoint, Mason wasn’t taking a second step with his left foot, leaving him vulnerable to the rush over the outside shoulder. How fast can Mason get those hands connected to his feet? The answer to that question will determine how quickly he emerges as a starter.

ILB(3) J.Mayo, J.Freeny, J.Morris – Freeny played a lot but wasn’t great on defense. His role will be mostly special teams. Morris the 53rd man.
