2013 Patriots Opponents Announced

Some interesting games next year for sure, especially on the road where the Pats will travel to four playoff teams (Falcons, Texans, Ravens, Bengals).

The Broncos will be the only team with a winning record that the Pats face at home but the Steelers and Saints should be good games as well.

How do you think our 4 defensive end package (or NASCAR package) compares to the Giants NASCAR package? Considering when you hear NASCAR package it’s typically associated with the Giants.

January 8, 2013 by Mike Dussault

Well as compared to what we saw from the Giants last year the Pats’ version isn’t quite as dangerous, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction in terms of getting more pass rush.

Wilfork is a great option to keep on the field even in passing situations this time around for some run prevention and to eat up some blockers in the middle of the field. When Wilfork is on like he was the last time the Pats played the Texans or in last year’s AFCCG you don’t want to take him off the field.

But against the Broncos and maybe the Packers a pure pass rush package certainly has it’s advantages.

Still I think in the off-season the Pats will need to find a “get upfield” defensive tackle. Is anyone sick of me saying this yet? Get ready for three straight months of it after the season.

Rob Ninkovich back at practice for Patriots – Extra Points – Boston.com

Rob Ninkovich back at practice for Patriots – Extra Points – Boston.com

Great news, but I hope Francis is just sick or something. He’s really been coming on at the end of the season and would be useful if the Pats want to use their four defensive end pass rush package.

Defensive end Rob Ninkovich, who was last seen limping off the field at Gillette Stadium after injuring his left hip in the season finale against the Dolphins, was spotted at practice Tuesday. It was Ninkovich’s second time back on the practice field after being spotted last Thursday before the Patriots went on a three-day hiatus during the bye week. According to a tweet posted by Globe colleague Michael Whitmer (@GlobeWhitmer), who attended the media-access portion of practice at the lower fields, Ninkovich looked good and was “running and jumping during agility drills.” Rookie defensive lineman Justin Francis, who recorded a career-high three sacks vs. the Dolphins, was not spotted during the workout, conducted in sweats and shells.

I mean, we know that we didn’t see their best the last time. They know that, and we know that,” Wilfork said Tuesday, speaking to reporters from a podium in the visitors’ locker room. “Come Sunday, we’re expecting their best. It’s all or nothing now from here on out.

Are the Texans ready for Patriots’ play action? | National Football Post

Great breakdown from Matt Bowen including lots of all-22 screenshots. Basically it comes down to discipline for the Texans, something they did not have defensively against the Patriots the first time and Tom Brady made them pay.
