Tedy: My test was three sets of ten 50-yard sprints. You had to complete each sprint in seven seconds, and you had 30 seconds in between each sprint. In between the three sets of ten 50-yard sprints, you got a break of three minutes.

Tedy Bruschi and Mike Reiss break down the New England Patriots heading into training camp – ESPN Boston

Conditioning tests will be happening today/tomorrow, here’s a good look into what they entail.

The Traits of Immediacy: Patriots Wideout Josh Boyce | NEPatriotsDraft.com/Oliver Thomas

Think I forgot to link to this one last week, but it’s outstanding work from Oliver Thomas breaking down Josh Boyce. I really think Boyce could be the rookie receiver to make the biggest immediate impact. He just seems to have all the traits the Pats love.

We’ve had our chances. Twice. More than twice, actually. I still have plenty of chances to do it. What I’ve learned is it’s really, really hard to win the Super Bowl. I didn’t get that perspective early, winning three out of the first four years I played. What I like about this franchise is we’ve got a shot every year. I love the fact we were in the AFC title game last year, the Super Bowl the year before that, and 14-2 the year before that. Can we win this year? It’ll be determined by our level of commitment, the mental toughness. We’ll find it out before the season. How committed are we?

Patriots pre-training camp 53-man roster projection – Going Deep – Boston.com

Here is Frenz’s initial pre-camp 53-man roster.  Some minor differences than what I’ve projected, something to talk about when our podcast starts back up later this week.

Eleven things to watch at New England Patriots training camp – ESPN Boston

Great stuff in this one, including my favorite topic:

Gone are the days of a surplus of big, physical defensive linemen; in its place is an overflow of hybrid outside linebacker/defensive end types in the 250- to 270-pound range. This was highlighted by 2013 top draft pick Jamie Collins, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound linebacker/defensive end from Southern Mississippi, who was selected 52nd overall. What it all means remains to be seen, as the Patriots still could employ the 4-3 base defense that they mostly played last year, or perhaps there will be a shift to more of a 3-4 type of front to play to the strengths of the hybrid numbers on the roster. At the least, there should be more athleticism in the team’s sub packages, and that’s where more of the game is being played these days (57 percent for the Patriots in 2012). Scheme tweaks bear watching in camp.
