Mike Dussault

Hello America, our name is the Panthers defense. Not many of you take us seriously. We were really terrible in 2011, and pretty bad in 2012. Our quarterback is so famously inconsistent, and our schedule has been pretty tame so far this year, so it is easy to overlook the great work we have been doing. "On Sunday, we held the 49ers to three field goals in a 10-9 victory. The 49ers only executed one drive that covered more than 22 yards all day. Colin Kaepernick got sacked six times and did not complete a pass longer than 14 yards. The 49ers were 2-of-13 on third down conversions.

I’m really excited about the matchup on Monday Night Football for the Pats. Not a ton of pressure yet in the standings with the Colts and Bengals losing yesterday. The Panthers should be a great test for the Pats, especially on the road.

what are some ways to beat a stout front four? can the patriots offense do it?

November 11, 2013 by Mike Dussault

Sure. Generally we’ve seen the Pats go to their spread offense against a stout front four, with 2006’s game against the Vikings coming to mind. It’s pointless to run into a brick wall, so you spread them out, make them pass rush, use up-tempo and try to tire them out. Try to get a lead then run on them when they’re tired to burn the clock.

During a conference call Monday, Belichick said that it “looks less likely with each day that goes by” that Armstead returns and noted that the defensive tackle is running out of time.

Yet another buzz kill in a season filled with them so far. I try to never look ahead, but it will be nice to get all these guys back and healthy next summer. There will be a lot to be excited about. Now it’s just a matter of putting together as many wins as possible and giving it everything they’ve got over the next two-and-a-half months.

Free safety Devin McCourty leads the defense in snaps played (652 of 659) and has been one of the NFL’s best this season. He leads all safeties with five passes defended, has two forced fumbles and an interception, hasn’t committed a penalty, and his tip-drill assist on Marquice Cole’s interception against the Dolphins was unbelievably heady.

Bill Belichick’s beginnings – ESPN Boston

Must-watch!!

“One of the things that I respect most about my dad is the number of Midshipmen later on who have come back to tell me stories about [him], they learned a lot more from him off the field, about being a man, and life lessons than they did football lessons, although there were a plenty of those, too,” Bill said. “I think he gave a lot of tough love that we all need; I need it. It was a tougher love but it was a compassionate love.”

The bye week is behind us and now the march to the playoffs begins with the Panthers. Should be a great challenge coming out of the off week for the Pats. The 2013 campaign continues!

McCourty is clearly a foundation-type player, so the question from here would be more “when” not “if” in terms of making it happen.
