In trying to restore his authority, Goodell undermined his credibility
As strong of an unbiased takedown of the Commish and the NFL that you’ll find written on this whole farce. I mean I know we’re supposed to only count what people who have lost to the Patriots and are now in the media think or fans of other teams, but this is pretty succinct and perfect.

I’m not going to go so far as to say this is the Zapruder film of Deflategate, but the evidence is pretty much unexplainable by Ted Wells’ interpretation of all things nefarious by the term “deflator”.
Even I’ll admit it’s a little bit of a stretch to believe the Jastremski and Bird really referred to weight loss with “deflator”. But here in these text messages, when the two were thousands of miles apart and far from being able to do anything outside the rules to the footballs, we find the term used: “deflate and give somebody that jkt”.
This read from the Pulpit has been around for a week and while I’ve seen it pop up a couple times, I still don’t think it’s getting the attention it deserves.
It’s impossible to know exactly how they used the term deflate, but it’s fair to deduce that it was a slang term for these guys and definitely not only used to refer to their secret operation of deflating footballs to Tom Brady’s liking.
I can only imagine how someone could possibly interpret the text messages I send on a daily basis. At the very least I think this raises very valid questions about any assumption made about McNally calling himself the “deflator”.
