[T]he Patriots welcomed first-round pick Dominique Easley to 11-on-11 work in full pads for the first time all summer. It appeared that Easley was working with a reasonable facsimile of the second-team defense. He looked very good — quick, without any issues when it came to bursting and changing direction. On his first rush, he flew past center Ryan Wendell, and beat guard Dan Connolly on his second rush. He also flashed an impressive spin move on the following play. An interesting debut for the youngster, who might be on track to get some live snaps this week against the Panthers.

Had to share these two tweets because both are very positive and just what the team needs.

Obviously for anyone who’s been around since the spring, you know that tweet falls right into my sweet spot.

Good news on all the injury returns. Some of these guys are still limited but if they can at least get some snaps in the final preseason game it will be a big positive.

Getting a late start here on this Monday morning, the last day of training camp open to the public. It’s hard to believe how fast the regular season is approaching.

As for the depth chart, it’s just an educated guess in a lot of spots. As I’ve said, you can’t read too much into who’s playing how much in the preseason.

My biggest area of uncertainty is at left guard. If Connolly really wins the center job would he/Kline be a better combination than Wendell at center and Connolly at right guard? I am not sure. Stork’s been injured and Halapio/Fleming likely need at least a year of development if they have that luxury.

Otherwise I think we have a pretty good pulse on how the team will shake out, especially on defense.
