Congrats to Ninkovich on his contract extension through 2016! Great move for the Pats and I think it’s safe to now put him amongst the great all-time free agent signings by Bill Belichick. An afterthought signed in camp in 2009 has become one of the unsung heroes of the Patriots defense, similar to the last man to wear No. 50 Mike Vrabel.

Three guys I’m most curious to see today (aside from the WRs of course):

  1. Brandon Spikes
  2. Zach Sudfeld
  3. Vince Wilfork

Nice one from Frenz.

Do you think that BB’s close relationship with Schiano is a positive or a negative going into tomorrow’s game? Both coaches are more familiar with each other’s preferences and philosophies on both sides of the ball — do you think this adds a new dynamic to the game in terms of playcalling/personnel choices?

Interesting question. Ultimately I think everything kind of balances out and it will just come down to which team plays better.  At this point there aren’t many coaches out there whose preferences and philosophies BB doesn’t have a bead on.

Both he and Schiano seem to like football-smart, tough and competitive players. Usually when two teams of those kind of guys play each other it’s close.

That’s what I’m expecting. Major penalties and turnovers game. Whoever plays a cleaner game will win by 3-7 points.
