Bill Belichick Press Conference Transcript
Q: What is your assessment of Jamie Collins after last week’s game?
BB: I thought he showed up. He’s learning. He’s doing some different things for us. Defensively he’s got some different responsibilities playing at the end of the line, playing off the line, playing in sub situations, playing a lot in the kicking game. He’s learning every day and I think he’s definitely making progress.
These two could make serious waves this year. (via Nordstrom’s Best: Patriots vs. Buccaneers – 8/16/2013)

On a lighter note, members of the team’s ground crew were watering down a patch of grass behind one of the team’s two practice fields, likely in anticipation of a rookie “slip-n-slide” that takes place annually. Rookies typically are charged with the task of recovering a “fumble” while sliding through the soggy grass, a fun way to mix up practice a bit (except not fun for the rookies).

We had been filling in, kind of ‘patch-working’ things (at wide receiver), because that’s the way the chips fell,” one team official told the NFP. “So maybe it was time to take some guys and develop them… . By and large, the (young wide receivers) have done pretty well, mentally and physically, so far. (Tom) Brady is going to make a lot of people look better. But these guys look like a pretty good bunch.

Great read on the WR turnover.

KT, Aaron and Josh, young receivers that we have have done the same thing,” he continued. “They’ve all come out, they’ve improved through the coaching, listened to the veteran players that have been around them, and that’s a real credit to them. They’re understanding and hopefully they continue to go on to be really great professionals, because if you’re not a professional, you don’t last long. To play for a Bill Belichick coached team you better be smart, you better be tough and you better put the team first.

In case you missed it, here’s my segment from ESPN NH this past weekend, talking Pats, obvs…

Should be plenty of this on Sunday. Especially with Scandrick (?) covering Welker in the slot. Yikes…
