Patriots vs Colts – 2003
Classic Manning vs. Brady flashback. I had this as my #3 best Patriots win of the Colts rivalry. Willie McGinest running down the field after stopping Edgerrin James is a classic Pats dynasty moment.

On [Brandon Lloyd’s] level of interest in joining the Patriots: “Very interested. And like I said earlier, I admire Coach Bill (Belichick), I admire Tom Brady, I admire how they run things over there. For any receiver to be considered to come in and play on the New England Patriots is gonna be excited just because of the history of success” On what will be the determining factor in his choosing a new team? “Winning is definitely the highest priority. I’ve been in the league for 10 years now and I don’t look at the NFL as a place where I can horde money and get as much as I can because it’s the end of the world (at the end of his career).”
Lloyd ‘very interested’ in hearing Patriots pitch
Interesting, but really what else do you expect him to say? I’ll believe it when he takes a lesser offer from the Pats.

Looks like Doug had a “Come to Hoodie” moment! He lays out some solid points here, and really you’re never going to get the impact players you want in the low-20s.
Based on what I see on the draft board I agree that trading back and filling out the mid and low round picks would be a good move. However the problem with continually drafting like this is what we saw last year, you end up having to cut 2nd and 3rd round picks like Tate and later Price who might not have had a fair shake in the system.
By this token you wonder if maybe just once BB will trade up and grab quality over quantity. I’ll believe it when I see it. Otherwise expect the Pats to take one player in the first and trade the other pick for more picks. It just makes too much sense based on what we’ve seen in the past.
With McCourty, a healthy Dowling (hopefully) and Arrington, the Patriots have some talent there, and Sterling Moore will be better with more reps. I don’t see them spending big money on a cover corner. I don’t know if it’s worth it in today’s game. I think we’re in an era where the defense is just looking to “hang on” in the back end. I do think you need to affect the quarterback, and you have to do that with pass rushers. I don’t subscribe to the theory of affecting quarterbacks with coverage. That being said, I think the Patriots will definitely keep their options open at CB depending on the value available.

Politi: Pursuit of Peyton Manning would be typical of flawed Jets | NJ.com
Thought this was a good read, and one of the big reasons I think the Dolphins are the more likely landing spot.
When we evaluate players, it’s a long, thorough process we go through. Obviously it’s very inexact. We’ve been right on players, we’re been wrong on players, just like every other team, every other coach, and every other personnel person has. So we do the best we can. It’s a long process that involves visiting the […]
