Hard work and dedication, I always put my job first before anything, no matter what it is. I’m always just dedicating myself. Unfortunately, it just happened like that. I mean, it is what it is,” Gronkowski said. “I have a lot of fun with my family. It was the first time I got to see them in a while. We were just having fun with my brothers and stuff, friends I hadn’t seen in a while. The chance to hang out with LMFAO, that was pretty cool, too. Unfortunately we didn’t win and that was the number one goal. That’s all we did, was work, for the two weeks from the Baltimore game to the Giants game, just to keep on grinding. I was in the training room 24/7 getting healthy. Same with everybody else. Unfortunately we just came up short.

I think the Patriots are a difference-making organization,” Snead said, noting that the Patriots own more regular-season victories than any team over the past four seasons. “What you will find with them is they are going to believe that teams win championships, individuals don’t. There is a lot of innovative thought that goes into the logistics and processes of putting it all together.

”We had hits and misses, even in free agency,” Pioli said. ”Donald Hayes, I blew that one. No offense to Donald. What it is, it’s difficult sometimes to see a player in a different system. And depending on how complicated or how the challenges of your offense … there’s the mental part. There’s some guys that can get by purely on athletic ability and skill and make a difference in college. As those players become pro players, and other people around them improve, sometimes it becomes difficult. Some of that becomes the mental part of the game. ” F

”College receivers don’t get a lot of press coverage. If they get it, it’s not good quality,” Pioli said. ”Their ability to get off the line of scrimmage, and escape the line of scrimmage … there are some really good corners in this league that know how to press, and really good defensive coordinators know how to set things up … so beyond size, how is that player going to be able to get open?”

In his 1997 book Finding the Winning Edge, Hall of Fame coach Bill Walsh—whose West Coast offense fueled the growth of […]
