Patriots Draft Flashback: Brandon Spikes

I remember thinking in 2009 how much I’d love to get Spikes on the Pats, but early on it looked like he was projected to go in the top 15. Well after a lackluster senior year the Pats were able to get him in the second round and he immediately became an impact player. I expect big things out of him in 2011.

After the game, Belichick was great. He came up to me and said, ‘That was an unbelievable coaching job; you deserve it and I hope you win the whole thing.’ He really said that, and I could tell he was sincere.

Positive, good sportsmanship postgame stuff like this with BB never makes headlines does it? No, only when he doesn’t hug someone long enough, or pushes a camerman who’s in his face, do we get all the outrage.

The guys from National Football Post break down the Patriots draft picks. They nail it with Jordan and Watkins, but then… AYERS!!! UGH… But after that Ryan Williams is a good selection and a no-brainer if he’s there at 60. As for the great quarterback debate, I think the they’ll look at one in the 5th round or later. They’ve had great success later and after the draft with QBs. Do you really take someone now higher than you drafted Brady? I say no way.
