What do you think the pats will do with their first round pick, trade, TE like some are suggesting, DT like you suggest or something else

January 31, 2014 by Mike Dussault

It’s so hard to say at this point. Look at it this way – the Pats will fill every hole they have via free agency. Some of those won’t be ideal or long shots, but they will not enter the draft with any glaring needs that need to be filled by a rookie.

So with that said, you have to ask yourself, where do you need to develop young depth? Tight End, Interior Offensive Line and Defensive Tackle certainly jump out at this point, but a lot can change in three months.

The whole point of free agency will be to give them the freedom they need to choose the best player available, even if it’s not at a position of glaring need.

I’ve been beating the DL drum for a while, but between free agency and Chris Jones/Armond Armstead/Sealver Siliga it’s not like they’re totally dead in the water. Things looked a lot worse last offseason even after the draft.

I don’t think you can ever rule out a man corner if they really like him or wide receiver despite their collection of young guys they picked up last offseason.

Tight End and Center/Guard seem like the best bets given their lack of depth.

Flowers was a second-team All-SEC selection in 2014, racking up 13.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and three forced fumbles, but he fell to the fourth round because he’s a bit of a tweener at 6’2" and 266 pounds. Flowers shows surprisingly good field speed in coverage for a player his size, but he’s not […]
