Tweets of Note: Patriots Training Camp Practice #8

August 5, 2016 by Mike Dussault

The Patriots held an intra-squad scrimmage today and Tom Brady tore it up to say the least. Brady has been as focused and hyped as we’ve ever seen him in training camp this summer. He also spoke briefly with the media after practice, marking his first statements since accepting the four-game suspension for maybe being aware that some of his ballboys probably weren’t running a deflation scheme.

Here are some Brady-centric tweets that stood out today:

Back at practice: Hogan, DJ Foster, Brandon Bolden, Malcolm Mitchell, Keshawn Martin and Nate Washington

— Mark Daniels (@MarkDanielsPJ) August 5, 2016

Good news on Hogan, who also mentioned that he should be good to go for full contact practice next week with the Saints. Reinforcements at the wide receiver position were much needed.

Absent: Lewis, Brown, Ebner, Jackson, Cooper, Stork, BWilliams, Amendola

— Mark Daniels (@MarkDanielsPJ) August 5, 2016

Donald Brown the only real buzz kill here and I can’t believe I just wrote that. But really, I’d be so happy if he somehow re-captures some magic this year.

Here but not practicing: Edelman, Vollmer, Freeny, Harbor

— Mark Daniels (@MarkDanielsPJ) August 5, 2016

Good sign, they’re all probably close to coming back.

Brady carving up Pats defense in this scrimmage. Just hit Slater deep down the sideline. Had to have been 40 yards in the air.

— Kevin Duffy (@KevinRDuffy) August 5, 2016

As much as I hate seeing Slater playing wide receiver, this is one instance I’ll just try to enjoy it.

Brady is having ridiculous levels of fun in this intrasquad scrimmage. After hitting Slater deep, ran downfield with one finger raised.

— Tom E. Curran (@tomecurran) August 5, 2016

So fired up. You see why he raises the level of play for not only those he’s playing with but those he’s going against.

Brady again. This time he hit Malcolm Mitchell with a 60ish yard TD. Brady is 19-19. Stop the fight!!!

— Mark Daniels (@MarkDanielsPJ) August 5, 2016

Brady hitting a rookie wide receiver with a deep bomb might be the best thing I’ve read from camp so far.

Malcolm Mitchell with a hell of a catch along the sidelines. Back shoulder. It’s weird, every WR playing with Tom Brady looks great.

— Kevin Duffy (@KevinRDuffy) August 5, 2016

That is weird. Usually there’s at least a couple guys who have no idea what they’re doing nor where to go. Ochostinko!

Not a live situation where pass rushers are sacking QBs, but I have a fired-up Tom Brady 24 of 24 in this scrimmage (includes OPI call).

— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 5, 2016

My lord, do I worry about the defense or just feel good about Brady? Well it’s mixed squad so there’s some non-starters facing Brady, so let’s just feel good about Brady.

Brady was pacing on the sideline, trash talking, sprinting all over the place, throwing dimes and screaming his head off today. Fun stuff.

— Mark Daniels (@MarkDanielsPJ) August 5, 2016

Love it, but also must be so annoying to go against this guy every day. Or imagine playing him in like ping pong or something and he’s getting all fired up about it. Hyper competitive people are fun to root for but if you have to deal with the personally on a consistent basis it can get taxing. But whatever. It’s Brady. I love him.

Other standouts: TE Martellus Bennett, WR Chris Hogan, CB Malcolm Butler, DE Trey Flowers.

— Kevin Duffy (@KevinRDuffy) August 5, 2016

Love seeing Flowers pop up. It would be beneficial to groom him to replace Ninkovich or Sheard, maybe as soon as next year.

Brady on his intensity today: “It’s a way to elevate everybody’s game…You gotta bring it mentally every day. You gotta have an attitude.”

— Phil Perry (@PhilAPerry) August 5, 2016

Welp, he sure does bring it every day with an attitude. Hopefully Garoppolo and Brissett are taking notes.

Can’t wait to see the Goalline packaged the Pats have in store. Imagine having Gronk, Bennett, Harbor, and Develin blocking for Blount on the Goaline. Or sub Blount and Develin out for Lewis and Edelman. Just pure destruction

I agree. Should’ve done more damage last year with Chandler but it seemed like the never really got him on the same page with the offense. But all those crazy shifts were impressive early in the season, before it became apparent that they were better in 11 personnel than 12 personnel. Gonna be tough to stop.

PatsPropaganda 2017 Mock Draft

The NFL draft is finally upon us! Though the Patriots don’t currently have a first or second round pick, history tells us that won’t stop them from finding players who can not only make the team, but contribute. My big board features a list of 50 players that I feel are the best fits for […]
