The Pats Propaganda 53-Man Roster Projection

September 3, 2010 by Mike Dussault

Alright, here it is. We’ll see how we did tomorrow…

Locks

  1. Tom Brady
  2. Brian Hoyer
  3. Kevin Faulk
  4. Sammie Morris
  5. Laurence Maroney
  6. Fred Taylor
  7. Randy Moss
  8. Wes Welker
  9. Brandon Tate
  10. Julian Edelman
  11. Tyler Price
  12. Alge Crumpler
  13. Rob Gronkowski
  14. Aaron Hernandez
  15. Matt Light
  16. Dan Connolly
  17. Dan Koppen
  18. Stephen Neal
  19. Sebastian Vollmer
  20. Gerard Warren
  21. Vince Wilfork
  22. Mike Wright
  23. Myron Pryor
  24. Ron Brace
  25. Tully Banta-Cain
  26. Derrick Burgess
  27. Jerod Mayo
  28. Gary Guyton
  29. Brandon Spikes
  30. Darius Butler
  31. Devin McCourty
  32. Jonathan Wilhite
  33. Brandon Meriweather
  34. Patrick Chung
  35. Stephen Gostkowski
  36. Zoltan Mesko
  37. Jake Ingram

That covers basically the starters. Now we have the guys who the core of special teams:

  1. Sam Aiken
  2. Rob Ninkovich
  3. Eric Alexander
  4. Kyle Arrington
  5. Sergio Brown
  6. Pierre Woods
  7. Brandon McGowan

That leaves 9 spots.

  1. James Sanders
  2. Ryan Wendell
  3. Quinn Ojinnaka
  4. Mark Levoir
  5. Eric Alexander
  6. Jermaine Cunningham
  7. Brandon Deaderick
  8. Kyle Love
  9. Terrence Wheatley

For our 8-man practice squad priorities are:

  1. Developmental DL to be acquired.
  2. Dane Fletcher
  3. Tyrone McKenzie
  4. Thomas Welch – T
  5. Ted Larsen – OL
  6. George Bussey – OL
  7. Rich Ohrnberger – G/C
  8. Darnell Jenkins – WR

Significant Cuts:

Benjarvus Green-Ellis: we’ve seen his ceiling, Morris the better fullback, not powering in last night on 4th down had to hurt.

Marques Murrell: Pierre Woods is a better run stopper/special teams contributor and Rob Ninkovich is a better pass rusher.

Matthew Slater: Jack of all trades, master of none.

Comments/Concerns:

Ojinaka, Levoir and Wendell are unproven depth backing up an offensive line known that is well capable of getting dinged up.

Brace, Deaderick and Love are young prospects who will see time.

Fletcher might be better than McKenzie but is more under the radar. He could be a surprise to make the 53. He’s fast, and reacts quickly and also has pass rush skills that we haven’t seen yet.

Chung might find himself playing slot coverage a little more now with Bodden gone and McCourty having to slip outside. Sanders and Meriweather make a solid back end in passing situations.

Lots of O-lineman on the practice squad.
