The Belichick Whisperer’s Patriots pick is…

April 30, 2015 by Mike Dussault

The Belichick Whisperer’s Patriots pick is…

Jerry goes with Tomlinson and it’s hard to argue with anything that he lays out. There’s no greater need than at guard, especially for the long term. The question becomes what’s the dropoff as we go into the second round with guys like Tre Jackson and AJ Cann. Could they drop from 32 to 35 and still nab Tomlinson or one of those other guys?

In my view, right guard is one of the easiest positions to fill on the roster, if not the easiest, and I am not convinced Tomlinson can play the left side. Mankins could step right in on the left and that’s why he was worth a first round pick.

If the Patriots believe Tomlinson can play both sides then sign me up at 32. If he’s just a right guard I’d rather wait until the second round and take someone in the defensive front seven.
