Zach Sudfeld

September 25, 2013 by Mike Dussault

Undrafted rookie tight end Zach Sudfeld looked like he was going to be a big contributor based on preseason performance. But he’s averaging just 18 snaps over his two regular-season games played and doesn’t have a catch. Initially, the thought was that Sudfeld might be the “move” tight end a la Aaron Hernandez, but Michael Hoomanawanui (more valuable than anticipated) has been tapped for some of those duties as well. Wouldn’t be surprised to see even less of Sudfeld going forward.

Big takeaway: TE Sudfeld on the rise – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston

Daniel Fells seems like he’s really developed this offseason, and seems to have a developed trust with Brady now. With him likely to take on some of the fill-in role for Hernandez, and Jake Ballard still not all the way back, there’s a real opportunity for Sudfeld in these preseason games.

He’ll likely play a lot, and get a chance to show what he can do in comparison to Michael Hoomanawanui.

One player hard not to notice today at #Patriots OTAs was rookie TE Zach Sudfeld. More fluid athlete and better pass-catcher than Ballard

As an X’s-and-O’s junkie, the best part of Part 1 was watching Belichick and Brady talk about the upcoming game with the Baltimore Ravens in Belichick’s office. They go over the full offensive game plan and then drill down to one of the main issues faced by any team opposing the Ravens — how to […]
