Tweets of Note: 2020 Camp -#4 8/20

August 20, 2020 by Tom Shaw-Mellors

After a lighter session yesterday, the Patriots were back in pads on the practice field. Can you believe it’s just over three weeks until the first game of the season against Miami?

Here are the Tweets of Note from the fourth media attended practice.

Jeff Thomas sighting. First time we’ve seen him at a Patriots practice. pic.twitter.com/MKcF5TMP5m

— Zack Cox (@zm_cox) August 20, 2020

Many will be glad to hear that UDFA WR Jeff Thomas finally graced the practice field today for the first time. He was involved in the early drills before being limited for the remainder of the session today.

Tweets of Note: 2020 Camp – Padded Practice #2

August 18, 2020 by Tom Shaw-Mellors

And just like that, day two of padded practice is in the books. The weather looked good in Foxborough earlier today for the second consecutive media attended practice.

Here are today’s Tweets of Note:

Tough start for Jarrett Stidham today. He’s been intercepted by Michael Jackson, Stephon Gilmore and Kyle Dugger.

— Mark Daniels (@ByMarkDaniels) August 18, 2020

Jarrett Stidham was intercepted three times. He also had one of the best throws of the day — a sideline laser to Damiere Byrd in 11-on-11 work. Nice timing between QB and WR, with protection holding up. Later, he decisively found Mohamed Sanu up right side in 11-on-11s.

Tweets of Note: 2020 Camp – Padded Practice #1

August 17, 2020 by Tom Shaw-Mellors

Today was the first time the media contingent were allowed access to the Patriots facility this season, so Tweets of Note is back! I’ll be doing these on most, if not all of the media attended practices as we head towards the regular season.

Here are some of the stand out tweets of the day, along with my thoughts.

Tweets of Note from Monday’s Patriots-Redskins Joint Practice

August 4, 2014 by Mike Dussault

Pats should get some good work in this week going against another team and finally getting to hit someone else. The headline from the first joint practice? That Brady and the Pats offense was hot, carving up the Redskins’ defense. Must be a nice break for Brady to no longer have Revis et al on defense.

Brady went all surgical during the 2-minute drill vs Washington’s 1s, relying heavily on Edelman, Lafell & Vereen. #PatriotsTalk

— Michael Giardi (@MikeGiardi) August 4, 2014

Ridley was running really well in 11-on-11s. He was the best back on the ground today.

— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) August 4, 2014

Pass rush was terrific during early 11-on-11s. In 1 sequence, Jones batted a pass, teamed w/Hightower for a sack, Ninkovich got a sack.

— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) August 4, 2014

Thompkins and DeAngelo Hall had done heated battles. Each had his moments. #patriotscamp

— Paul Perillo (@pfwpaul) August 4, 2014

Um, what was he watching? RT @ChrisWesseling: “Ryan Mallett popped today. I was blown away. I saw a legitimate NFL starting QB.” – Mayock

— Andy Hart (@JumboHart) August 4, 2014

As @jeffphowe just mentioned, the Pats left Rob Gronkowski back in Foxboro. They are simply exhibiting caution, I’m told. He can work there.

Tweets of Note from Thursday Patriots Practice

July 31, 2014 by Mike Dussault

We’re now a full week into training camp and the team has had five-straight practices in pads (though the intensity was a little dialed back today per reports). We’ll have some general thoughts about what we’ve heard and learned in this first week later today.

For now, here are some tweets that stood out about today’s practice.

Top plays: Ryan Mallett long bomb TD to Shane Vereen (CB Justin Green in coverage), Tom Brady to Julian Edelman connection up right sideline

— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) July 31, 2014

James White broke free during 11v11s and when everyone went to let up, Revis dropped him.

— Mark Daniels (@MarkDanielsPJ) July 31, 2014

Another tough day for Garoppolo. Was 0 for 4 in 7-on-7s and threw a pick-6 to Butler in 11-on-11s.

— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) July 31, 2014

LB Steve Beauharnais has impressed me multiple times in #Patriots training camp, as well. Good reserve LB. Can cover, play special teams.

— Doug Kyed (@DougKyedNESN) July 31, 2014

Defense FIRED UP today…just kept top off group out of ez twice, started chanting “hell no we won’t go”. I don’t get that, but theyre happy

— shalise manza young (@shalisemyoung) July 31, 2014

McCourty just stopped Ridley at the goal line and the defense went nuts

— Mark Daniels (@MarkDanielsPJ) July 31, 2014

Darrelle Revis with a pick-six off Tom Brady in team work with the offense starting backed up at the 1-yd line. Nice anticipation by 24.

Tweets of Note from Patriots Wednesday Practice

July 30, 2014 by Mike Dussault

They’ve been at it for just about a week and you can tell tempers are growing short out there. We’re just eight days away from the first preseason game so we can expect to start seeing things take shape to get them ready to play.

Brady to Gronk! #patscamp https://t.co/3DYUANlVsE

— New England Patriots (@Patriots) July 30, 2014

Following up on the center competition, Dan Connolly (2011 center before moving to right guard) took most reps there today.

— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) July 30, 2014

Tommy Kelly took a ton of reps, including 11-on-11s near the end of practice. Not final round of drills though.

— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) July 30, 2014

Not a good practice for Thompkins. Not sure if early spat with Browner got to him or what, but Browner best him all day, INT vs. Brady throw

— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) July 30, 2014

Jamie Collins, while covering Ridley, had a couple of pass breakups during 1v1s.

— Mark Daniels (@MarkDanielsPJ) July 30, 2014

Brandon Browner is getting heated, just manhandling WRs in 1-on-1s (all would probably be penalties). Chad O’Shea let him have it.

Tuesday Patriots Practice Tweets of Note

July 29, 2014 by Mike Dussault

The pads are back on after the team was off from practice yesterday and it sounds like the intensity is starting to pick up. Edelman is having a strong camp, clearly picking up where he left off last year. Nice to see Brandon LaFell make a nice play today after getting off to a slow start last week.

Brandon LaFell just made a ridiculous catch during 7v7s while being double covered (granted it was Butler and Ebner)

— Mark Daniels (@MarkDanielsPJ) July 29, 2014

Logan Ryan made a nice pick on a Brady ball for Edelman. Really good theater in one-on-one battles between DBs and WRs this AM. #Patriots

— Christopher Price (@cpriceNFL) July 29, 2014

Julian Edelman just made a sick leaping one-handed grab in corner of the end zone vs. Kyle Arrington. Tucked it in his elbow for the grab.

— Erik Frenz (@ErikFrenz) July 29, 2014

The Patriots are giving James White a lot of reps for a rookie. Could see a role in 2014.

— Doug Kyed (@DougKyedNESN) July 29, 2014

Overall, intensity level rises and Bill Belichick’s voice was audible as he cracked the whip in this session. Some live tackling a highlight

— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) July 29, 2014

During 1v1s, Logan Ryan intercepted Brady while covering Edelman. Edelman made multiple great catches though through the drill
