tom brady

He’s back and braced…

(via Patriots joint practice with Buccaneers – 8/15/2013)

Any lingering fears stemming from Brady’s brief absence were quelled Thursday afternoon. Wearing a brace on his left knee, the same one he’s worn since tearing his ACL in the 2008 season opener, the quarterback returned to practice and showed no lingering effects. In 7-on-7 dills, he completed his fist six passes and did not appear to have a noticeable limp. The rest of the joint session with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was completed at half speed.

Brady could practice tomorrow

August 14, 2013 by Mike Dussault

Patriots will re-examine Tom Brady in the morning, but one source said the quarterback is likely to practice Thursday.

So there’s that. And even if he doesn’t, it seems like he should be fine for Week 1. Still, would love to see him continue to get as much work with these new receivers as possible.

Looks like for about two hours today the Bills, Jets and Dolphins got as close as they’ll get to an AFC East championship this season.

Initial reports on Brady’s knee are positive

August 14, 2013 by Mike Dussault

There’s nothing quite like an injury scare to a franchise quarterback in the age of twitter and social media. Within an hour of Brady walking off the practice field, we had a firestorm of overreaction, hopeful opposing fans thinking the door just might be open in the AFC East, and finally a full fan-shot video of the play that Brady went down.

Now, we have reports coming out of Foxboro that Brady is likely to be okay. Seems unlikely we’ll see him Friday night, but you never know. He is 36 years old, and likely to be sore and require some time to heal regardless of what exactly the prognosis is.

Here are the latest informed tweets:

Jonathan Kraft: “I’m under the impression that it’s probably not that serious, but that’s not a definitive answer.”

— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) August 14, 2013

In a case like this, Brady would go through flexibility tests w/ trainers. That’ll lead to first impression, but the MRI is the true key.

— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) August 14, 2013

NFL source: “He’ll (Brady) be fine. He’ll be checked again later on tonight.” – #wbz

Brady leaves practice

August 14, 2013 by Mike Dussault

Here’s a tweet recap of what happened today at practice. They’re being precautious, but it’s TFB so the general unease until he gets back onto the field is understandable for Patriots Nation. Fingers crossed it’s nothing serious…

Little bit of a scare here at Patrios practice as Tom Brady stayed down after incomplete pass in 11-on-11 drills. Was holding left knee …

— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 14, 2013

Tom Brady walked off under his own power with a slight limp, missed one play, then returned to practice.

— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 14, 2013

Brady keeps looking down at it. Doesn’t look comfortable. Now stretching it on the side

— Greg A. Bedard (@GregABedard) August 14, 2013

Brady leaves again and then back on the field for 11 on 11s. Not running with a limp, but still bears watching.

— Christopher Price (@cpriceNFL) August 14, 2013

After consulting with Belichick, Brady just left practice with a trainer

— Ben Volin (@BenVolin) August 14, 2013

Don’t think Brady was hit. Looked like leg got caught up. He seemed to be holding left knee. Came back, completed a few passes, the left

— Nick Underhill (@Nick_Underhill) August 14, 2013

For what it’s worth, Berj Najarian, Belichick’s right-hand man, doesn’t look concerned, hasn’t left field
